WWYD..confused
i have been with Dr.B for a while..never had a prob..his office has always been good to me..I want to do IVF with them..
here is the issue..if we go with Dr.B my co insurance alone is 3500..plus cost of freezing any eggs and we r oop for all meds..although i have some amazing fms from girls willing to donate when we do ivf..you girls really are my angels
if i go to another doc..who is in network and takes my ins my co insurance is only 1500..that is a big diff
even paying that would be hard for us..so saving that is a big help
but this office knows me..my history..my issues
if i go to another doc will they want to run all new tests? will my ins pay for that again?
also Dr.B is getting ghi to let me go to ivf without the last 4 iui we woudl have to complete..will a new doc do that?
i just do not knwo what to do...i do not want to leave but we might have to wait a couple months to save up for this ivf..dh says to just do more iui in between
i just want to move on and do ivf already..why cant i be rich

Re: WWYD..confused
this is a tough decision, but i would want to stay with Dr.b. Ask him if u can do a payment plan. I am sure not many people, have an extra 3500 lying around ya know???
But while u r saving up, do your last 4 iui's!!! why not???? u got them, use them!!! all u need is one
if u need to save some money anyway, why not do this in the meantime? that way u aren't wasting any time!!!
i pray for u guys all the time!!! u will have some story for your LO!!! Good luck G!!!! I really hope I can see u soon!!!

Re: WWYD..confused
Thats really hard- I probably wouldnt even think twice about staying with dr b cuz the thought of leaving him makes me sad.
Did u guys crunch the numbers? How much longer would it take for you to save those extra $2000? if its a really long time (whatever ur definition of long time is) it might be worthwhile to switch docs.
Do you have immune issues? Can u see an in network doc for ivf while dr b treats the other issues?
I dunno, those are my first thoughts for now...

Re: WWYD..confused
A new Dr will take all the test you have had done. They actually do not want you to go through more tests if they can avoid it.
Personally I would change. That savings is a lot and if you end up having to do more than one cycle it can really add up.

Re: WWYD..confused
You wont have to do anymore tests. You would just bring all of your records/testing with you if you decide to go to a new Dr. You have to do what you feel comfortable. I was in your same situation & decided to switch (his hrs also didnt work for me anymore). I didnt want to go into debt for something I could somewhat control the cost of. Whatever you decide, I wish you luck & I hope this happens for you soon

I know money is the toughest subject... it's such a struggle for us too. Sometimes, we just figure out a way to make it work. idk how, but we do.
Will your emotions be affected if you're with another Dr? Or would the $ thing make you worry more?

i agree with this... i love Dr B, i think hes great... but if it came down to a HUGE cost difference, i would switch...

Re: WWYD..confused
I am not sure what your issues are but if they don't involve immune issues I would use another doctor. There are some other really good doctors out there. I would make appointments for consults and see how you like them. You would not have to get more testing done if they are within a year. If they are longer than a year, your insurance would pay for them again. I have met with a few different doctors so if you want more info fm me

Re: WWYD..confused
I feel that not knowing what the future will hold, it is in your best interest to save some money if you can. Find a way to consult with Dr. B while having the other doctor do the IVF.
I just had to face a similar insurance related decision - wanted to start with Dr. B but my out of network insurance is crap so I have to start elsewhere for the initial tests and consults and then take that information and go back to him once I have some answers.

This whole process is hard and stressful enough as it is, and if you can aleviate one stress (the financial stress/strain) it might be in your best interest to switch. I am sure Dr. B would understand and would be supportive. HTH!

Re: WWYD..confused
For me, I would switch. The financial burden would stress me out. My Dr was able to get me approved for IVF after only 6 IUI's (out of the 12); therefore other Dr's will be able to as well. Good luck!

If I were in your position, I would probably switch, as much as I love Dr. B. Unfortunately, I have no ins. coverage for IVF no matter what, so I decided to stay with him. If you have immunological issues, I would have him consult with your new doctor.

Re: WWYD..confused
I would probably switch, mainly because Dr. B doesn't do the IVF himself. I would however try to keep him on to manage the immune part if you need that done.
I love him too, but 2k is a lot when you already have to pay 1.5k!

I would go with the option which causes you and DH less stress...I know money situations can cause a lot strain/pressure and you dont need any additional stress...

Re: WWYD..confused
Has Dr. B already gotten the waiver for you for IVF? If so...that is something to consider. I got a waiver and authorization for IVF from GHI and my approval letter specifically said that it was specific for my Dr's office only. This is not to say that your new Dr will not be able to get the waiver...but I would check. If the waiver has not yet been granted..then maybe I would leave. Someone did bring up a good point..if you have immune and or clotting issues...you might want to stay. GL.

Re: WWYD..confused
If you are going to continue to do iui till you save the money, then I would switch. Gina, its a BIG difference in money. I'm sure any respectable RE will take a look at all the tests that Dr. B has run. Why dont you go for a consult with an RE that takes your insurance that way you can get an idea of what their game plan is?
My dr referred me to RS of NY. I was seeing Dr. Sung there. Two of my friends became mom's through using Dr. Sung.
