DR B girls.....moving frosties
I am very frustrated and nervous!!! A little background with Dr B. I started with him in Jan 2011. I started an IVF cycle in June, he had just switched clinics from AF (? ) to Batzofin. Great, loved Batzofin's office and staff was great. I got a BFP with 6 frosties, but ended in a miscarriage @ 8 wks. NOW I go back to Dr B for the nxt step to find out that he switched clinics YET again!!!! Now I have to have my frosties MOVED from one clinic to the other. I am worried about the transportation process and all the unmentioned fees!!! Mind you I am a self pay patient. Anyone going thru this as well or have gone thru the process of moving your frosties??? Can you shed some light on the situation...waiting for a call back from the office to figure out what the costs may or may not be.....more out of pocket $$$$ UGH!!!!!
thanks and to all!

Re: DR B girls.....
I don't have experience transferring frozen embies to the new lab because when I did a cycle at Batzofin's I had nothing left to freeze.... so I did a fresh cycle at the new place (Grammercy Park).
So, I can't really answer you questions but one thing I will say is the new lab is really great and I had a very good experience there. I was nervous about going there since I had such a good experience at Batzofin's and I was afraid this place would not be as good. I was pleasantly surprised!

Thank you PennyCat! I wish you luck with this IVF cycle. I am glad to know that you were happy with the new place. Do you know why Dr B switched AGAIN and in such a short time?

Re: DR B girls.....moving frosties
I think it was insurance related........
I actually liked the new place better than Batzofin's I found them more efficient.

Re: DR B girls.....moving frosties
I did this when I moved my embies from my old RE to Dr B. There are courrier services that specialize in this. I used Manhattan Cryobank (sorry I don't have a # handy) and I think it cost me around $350-$380 however this was in 2009 so I am not sure if anything has changed since then with fees, etc.
Good luck!

Re: DR B girls.....moving frosties
hmm thats sorta what I was told but I dont buy it...it was such a quick in and out!!! I just hate that I was caught in the middle now with having to transfer my frosties
Im pretty sure that ppl with frosties at the clinic he was using prior to Batzofin were able to keep them there and he would still work with them thru the FET cycle without having to transport them...I wont know why this time its different, thats why I think something else happened other than an insurance thing....
Especially for me being a self pay. I dont see why I cant keep them there and work with them. AND Grammery is more for an FET!!!

Re: DR B girls.....moving frosties
Did the clinic provide you with the courier service or did you have to find one yourself? B/c I already called to find out info at the clinic in which I am to transfer from and they did not mention a courier they just said the fee and sent me a release form...

Honestly I think there were lots of issues with the way Batzofin's office was billing people.

Sandra at Dr. B's office gave me the name of the courrier. I had to make sure that my storage fees were up to date at the old RE and that everything was set up between the two clinics (basically just letting them know what was going on).
When I was doing this the second time (when Dr. B went from AFS to Batzofin) they never mentioned the courrier service either, since I am in Suffolk there was no way I was going to rent a tank and transport them myself. I ended up not tranferring them, Dr. B. had me go to AFS for my FET.

I transferred them myself. Yes, I did. I borrowed the tank from Batzofin and brought them to Gramercy. It was actually very easy to do. FM me if you have any questions.

Re: DR B girls.....moving frosties
Can't you just do the FET at the old place with one of their doctors? Might be easier.

Re: DR B girls.....moving frosties
I wish I could! It would be much easier!!! Dr B is no longer working with the Baltzofin clinic and I need to continue working with Dr B other wise I would just do that.
Also I just found out that the Gramercy Clinic does not do long term storage. Only up to 2 yrs. SO I would then have to move them again!!!! SO very annoying and frustrating....these are my babies to be we are talking about! Ugh...so I can either transport myself or hire a courier to do it. THere should be a crash course in this stufff...I guess this is it, as you go thru it! LOL
