Baby aspirin

My dr initially put me on it to promote blood flow. I swore he said for the 1st trimester but at my last 2 appts I asked him and he said to continue taking it up til 35 weeks because it's good for the blood flow. I just thought it was weird because I don't have a clotting problem. Anyone else taking it this long or heard of it?

crashing here.. do have clotting issues and I know if I ever get pregnant again I'll be taking asprin the whole time, as well as an injectable blood thinner. It's actually common, at least among people with clotting issues. I'm not sure how common it is for people without it though.

i took it all pregnancy for clotting issue. are you sure you dont have a clotting issue? have you had a full thrombophilia panel? if you haven't and you have any history of miscarriage that isnt genetic you might as well stay on it - better safe than sorry!!

My SIL took it for her whole pregnancy. She mentioned it to me one day in passing, so I don't know all of the details, but she said it was because she was at "miscarriage risk." She had a miscarriage a few months prior to getting pregnant with her first child, which I'm guessing was the cause for her to be considered "at risk" for m/c.

I've been taking it for my whole pregnancy up until this week for a clotting issue.

I would ask your doctor about it next time you go.

I started taking it as per dr in 2nd trimester. I had spotting throughout 1st trimester and ended up going for early 20 week sonogram at 17 weeks (and again at 20) because of elevated apf results. the 17 week sonogram showed "notching" in my placenta which is like blood clots.

dr said baby aspirn is just a good idea overall, everyone should take it he said, even him. he said its safe for baby. he said how much it helps is unknown but there is no harm, and my baby is growing which means blood flow is decent, it might be decent without the baby aspirn but its hard to tell and not worth not taking it. he too said to take until 32 weeks.. and only stopping then because you don't want thin blood then because you bleed during labor/c-section. I have more than one gyn dr and all agree with the aspirn regime. I wish I knew sooner and wish I took it in 1st trimester.

if you have no current issues, your dr may just be over cautious, not to worry. do what you are comfortable with.

I am also on baby aspirin. Dr Erhart told me to stay on it indefinetly. After my m/c, I did the bloodwork panel and I have a genetic clotting disorder that both my sisters have so therefore I will be on it for the whole pregnancy and maybe even after.

I should have said I will probably stop at 37 weeks in case of c-section. I have to be off blood thinners one week before a procedure such as a c-section. Then I would go back on it.
