Hair Coloring / 1st Trimester
Anyone afraid of doing it?

you will here mixed opinions re it on here. I colored my hair at 6 weeks and again 14 and I am due to have it done again next week

I do it every 6-8wks. I did it at 8wks, 15wks, and will do again next wk.

Not that I'm scared to...just more lazy and broke  I only slightly lighten my hair so the roots are not too bad and not worth the risk to dye them in my case.
I did read to consider highlighting vs all over haircolor because there is less contact with your scalp.

My hair stylist used an all natural vegetable dye for the first trimester, then i switched to highlights.

Not at all. I get my hair colored every 6-8 weeks or so and plan on getting highlights soon.
Talk to your doctor if you're concerned. My doc feels that the amount of chemicals that could be absorbed into your body are so minimal that there is really no reason not to color your hair. But, every doc is different.

I waited til week 15 to be on the safe side, but my doctor said it's recommended to spend the extra bucks and get it done professionally rather than use box dye, if that helps.

My dr is so laid back with everything, but this is the one thing she specifically tells you to wait until your second tri with.

I've read that foils are safe because it doesn't touch your scalp.
I went for highlights the week I found out I was pregnant. I colored my hair thru my previous 2 pregnancies as well.

my Dr said no, but he also said that he says no bc it is cosmetic and not necessary and with that said that its more dangerous for the baby for you to get in your car and drive everyday.
Still - he said no, so Ive been using a natural hair dye from Whole Foods called Naturtint (or something close to that) which is doing a good job covering my greys.
