what to do about my neighbor's tree
After Irene, my neighbor across the street's tree suffered damage. It already was half dead and now there are broken branches strewn across the intact branches. Any strong wind or even a squirrel jostling it could cause the branches to fall on someone, its obviously very dangerous. The branches actually spread over the entire sidewalk and the street, so it's not even like the potential damage would be contained in their yard.
I called 311 (im in Queens) and they said since it's private property, they cant do anything about it. I'm going to call my councilmember and community board but does anyone have any advice? TIA

No. It's a 3 family and I dont know who is the owner. I didnt want to talk to someone and then report it (if there was not a favorable response) then they would suspect it was me that reported it, kwim? OBVIOUSLY they know there's an issue there and havent done anything about it.

I would contact the county clerks office, they should have the owners info then send a certiffied letter to them about the issue.
