When do you move onto IUI?
I had a question...I am on my 2nd round of clomid and I was wondering when we should move onto to IUI if it doesnt work?
I know my doctor said 3 cycles of clomid before moving on but I am such a pessimist and if this doesnt work and I have to move onto ART and I have to do 6 cycles of "non-invasive" before they will let you move onto IVF. I really hope to not have to go thru that but you never know and I want to prepare myself.

Re: When do you move onto IUI?
I never did clomid only. My first clomid cycle was with an iui. We don't have a male issue but I do produce a sperm antibody which is why we do iui. I would ask if you could do an iui, its not a big procedure.

Re: When do you move onto IUI?
I think I may ask for the next cycle we do an IUI...we dont have a sperm issue but I know that my cervix is not 100% normal since I had both cryo & leep procedure I think its scared and the opening is narrow.

Re: When do you move onto IUI?
I did 2 cycles of Clomid with my OBGYN with just intercourse. After the 2nd month and no real monitoring, we moved to an RE. The next cycle I did Clomid and IUI. I think it really depends on what type of doc you're seeing. Are you with an RE?

Re: When do you move onto IUI?
I don't think anything is wrong with doing an only clomid cycle as long as you are being monitored. I did 3 Clomid cycles with my ob/gyn and he did no monitoring so I didn't know if it was working for me or not. After the 3rd month I went to a RE and did my first Clomid and IUI. The procedure itself is not bad at all so if you do want to skip and go straight to IUI you should.
I think your age, how long you've been ttc and any other factors will determine how quickly you move on to ART.
Good luck!!!

I am seeing my ob/gyn. I am using opk's on my own but I think the next step...if it doesnt work this month is to see an RE since I have underlying PCOS issues.
Thanks!!!

Re: When do you move onto IUI?
We did IUI immediately because it increases your chances. It doesn't increase it by a TON but a little bit and we just wanted the best chance possible, considering I was using injections and putting a physical toll on my body. In my opinion IUIs aren't a big deal at all. It takes 2 minutes and puts the sperm directly where it needs to be. We also don't have any male factor issues.

I think seeing an RE is a good idea. An RE can address the PCOS and help treat it and increase your chances. Good luck!!

Re: When do you move onto IUI?
My RE told me that clomid tends to dry up your CM, so we did IUI right away to circumvent that side effect.

Re: When do you move onto IUI?
I have been taking mucinex to hopefully mitigate any CM issues. I should O this week so I hope we get the BFP and wont need to move on to IUI.
