Has anyone ever head a hb as early as 5w4d???

Just curious because i have my first sono set for 5w4d..the RE wanted me to come in that early (i little earlier than normal because of high betas)...
I'm excited to get the sono, but nervous because thats still so early..and i know i'll probably be super upset if there is no heartbeat..

I had my first sono at 5 weeks 5 days and although I was not able to hear the heartbeat, I was able to see the tiny little flicker of the heartbeat

just wanted to add, I was under the care of an RE until 8 weeks, I know most OBs won't see you until 8 or 9 weeks but RE usually does sonos prior to that.

MY dr wouldnt even try before 9 weeks.

thanks..i wish they wanted me to come in just a few days later...ugh..so looking forward to the app't next week, but really hope i don't get dissapointed...last pregnancy was a missed miscarriage, and that was different because first sono was at 8.5 weeks, and there was just an empty sac...but still..its so nervewracking!!!

I would think in general that it was rare. In the 5 week range, they generally look for the fetal pole, sac etc... I "believe" with my middle pregnancy, they did the sono in the 5 week range and we saw a very little flicker. It wasnt really moving around either. Kinda stuck against the top wall.

At 5 weeks all we saw was the sack. Didnt see the heartbeat til week 7

I just went last week, i was exactly 6 Wks, my DR warned me we may not see or hear anything. We didn't hear the HB but we saw it....he says 1 day makes a difference and you usually can't see or hear anything until at least 6 wks, so please don't get worreid.

with DD#1 at 6w I didnt see anything... i went back at 7w6d i believe and it was there :)


i am going on fri Ill be 6w1d; and i am not gettin my hopes up that ill hear something.

I had to have a early sono because of issues I was having. I had one around that time and wa able to see the HB and they got a HR. I had another sono at exactly 6 weeks and heard the HB.

When I went in at 5 weeks and a few days, they thought they saw a slight flutter. When I went in the next week, there was a strong heartbeat.

So it's possible, but also VERY early to see that,especially if you're off a few days.

Dont stress if you dont see it. You should be able to see a HB the following week!!

We went at 5 weeks, 2 days and saw the two sacs and they each had a yolk sac. There were no fetal poles yet. At 6 weeks, 2 days, we saw and heard both heartbeats. At that point, you are right on the cusp of possibly seeing a heartbeat, but I wouldn't expect it. I specifically asked the sono tech what I could expect so I wasn't stressed or disappointed.
