Thoughts on Silver Lake?
DH and I are thinking about making an offer on a home we recently saw in the "Silver Lake" area of Baldwin. This is a new area for us, and the only reason we even found it is because the realtor has it listed as "Oceanside" and not Baldwin, which is incorrect. In any event, we love the house, but don't know much about the area. I've been reading up and researching and one thing that concerns me is the petty crime in Baldwin generally - but not in this particular area. Anyway, we are so torn and are looking for our forever home - we're not interested in ever going through this endless process again!!!
(This will be the 7th house we're offering on. We've been outbid on 5 others, we had an accepted offer on the 6th house, and then backed out after having 2 inspections due to a mold issue!! )

If it's in the Oceanside school district, it's totally fine. In fact it's one of the areas I like most in the district. I'm from Oceanside and had many friends growing up who lived in that area and it was always fine and a nice neighborhood. Can't speak much for the area beyond that further into Baldwin, but basically between Foxhurst Rd. and Merrick Rd. south of Silver Lake/north of Oceanside Rd. is fine IMO.

I don't live there but used to live in Oceanside in the same elementary school zone Silver Lake is in (Oceanside School 3). My cousin lives in Silver Lake and his street is great, went to their block party this year and everyone was very nice.

Thanks everyone. It is Oceanside SD, so that is good, right?
I am getting so frustrated with this process, I just want the hubby and I to find a home so we can start a family. I don't want to go through this process again!! Thanks for all the advice.

Its an awesome area. I grew up there and my parents are still there. Like everyone said, its Oceanside SD and elementary school 3, which I went to and my children will go (though I bought by the high school now). I adore the area, its super super safe, my parents neighbors are awesome, if something were available when we were buying I totally would have bought there! Do you mind sharing which block?

It is a great area - not only because I bought a house there in 2008 but I also grew up in Oceanside.
I actually live down the block from silver lake. You can FM with any questions. I know there are a few houses down the block from me that are for sale
