My 1st Prego question
So I got my BFP this morning and was wondering what the do's and dont's are with eating and drinking?

I know you should avoid: hot dogs, deli meats and unpasteurized cheese. Drinks I know you shouldnt drink too much caffeine. So avoid coffee, teas and chocolate. I think the daily max of caffeine is 200mg..HTH

Congrats!!! No alcohol, and I stay away from all artificial sweeteners, so no crystal light for example. Limit caffeine intake. Some drink coffee throughout, but I limited.
For food, fish is healthy for a growing baby, but only low mercury fish and there are limits to how much fish you should eat. There was recently a post on fish, but stay away from swordfish and the very high mercury fish completely. I go to sushi restaurants, but only get the cooked food.
No unpasteurized cheeses (although most in the US are pasteurized), and many stay away from cold cuts such as sliced deli from the deli counter.
No undercooked meats or eggs, no sprouts or radishes. I think that's it! Oh and start taking a prenatal, you can buy one over the counter, but your ob may prescribe a certain kind after your visit.

whats the deal with that as far as caffeine.
i love ice tea. i dont think i can give up that AND coffee!

You can have caffeine, just not TOO much. Ice tea and chocolate and all that is fine, so is coffee, but in moderation, don't have 2 glasses of iced tea and 2 cups of coffee daily

DON'T go crazy with the do's and don'ts. What to expect has a huge section about eating/drinking. Everything in moderation is safe. DO whatever you're comfortable with and enjoy
