Need some recipes with Apples

I bought a bunch of farm apples today when I went grocery shopping. I'm not in the mood to make an apple pie today...I want to try something new with them. Can anyone share a good recipe they have to use up some apples?

Re: Need some recipes with Apples

I made Ina Garten's Old Fashioned Apple Crisp yesterday and it was quite possibly the BEST apple crisp I've ever had.

I also like the Southern Plate AppleDapple Cake that Racheee posted here a while back.

You could also do applesauce or pork chops with roasted apples.

Re: Need some recipes with Apples

This is a recipe from McCormick's that I like, I've made it exactly as below and just recently swapped one apple for a nectarine (so 1 apple, 1 nectarine) and swapped the apple juice for a dry white wine - it was delicious both ways!! I also used bone-in pork chops, because thats what I had.

Apple Sage Pork Chops

1 tbs. sage
1 tbs. garlic
1 tbs. paprika
1 tbs. all spice
1 tbs. thyme
1 tablespoon flour
1 teaspoon salt
4 boneless pork chops, 1-inch thick (about 1 1/4 pounds)
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 medium onion, thinly sliced
2 red apples, thinly sliced
1/2 cup apple juice
1 tablespoon brown sugar
1. Mix flour, all of the Spices and salt in small bowl. Sprinkle both sides of pork chops with 1 tablespoon of the seasoned flour.

2. Heat oil in large skillet on medium-high heat. Add pork chops; brown on both sides. Remove from skillet. Add onion; cook and stir 3 minutes or until tender. Add apples; cook and stir 2 minutes.

3. Stir in juice, sugar and remaining seasoned flour until well mixed. Return pork chops to skillet. Bring to boil. Reduce heat to low; cover and simmer 5 minutes or until desired doneness.

Re: Need some recipes with Apples

I went apple picking over the weekend and have a bunch of apples myself! I already made apple crisp. Then I am going to make an apple crisp like ice cream as well as this apple tart.

pork and apples in the crockpot:

1 pkg pork tendorloing (2 tenderloins)
4 - 5 apples, peeled,wedges with apply slicer
1 large onion - rough chop
1/3 cup apple sauce
garlic powder
black pepper
cinnamon

generously sprinkle pork with the 3 spices all around, add to crockpot with all other ingredients. Cook on low all day, high for faster cooking time. Serve over mashed potatoes. Its delish!!!!

gravy will be thin... i take it out and thicken on stove with cornstarch, then add back in for 15 minutes.
