doubting myself and everything
Is anyone else nervous, scared and feel not ready about TTC? I don't know why, but I'm so scared. DH and I were going to starting tonight and now I'm backing out. I'm such a bag of mixed emotions right now. UGGGGHHH!!! This sucks...

Re: doubting myself and everything
at first I was scared too, and also felt like backing out. It's like your whole life you do everything you can do to not get pregnant, so when you are actually trying to get pregnant, it almost feels wrong! After a few times of I felt more confident and was completely ready !! Good luck !!

Re: doubting myself and everything
ME!!
I'm incredibly nervous about TTC. I sometimes say (to myself ) it would have been easier if we had an oops baby instead of planning for one like this. Then we would have just dealt with the situation. Planning it like this gives me too much time to stress/fear/worry about the pregnancy the birth and having to care for the baby! But in the flip side we want it so bad! So we keep moving forward with it!!

I felt Scared too the first few months. Then, when I realized it wasn't happening right away I got more anxious for it to happen. So, the more it wasn't happening, the more I wanted it. I think that's a good thing :)

Re: doubting myself and everything
I felt that way after the first year of TTC. I didn't know why we were TTC was it because it was the "thing to do" or expected or if I was really ready, or, if I wanted it bad enough, am I, are we ready, and the list can go on and on. Then one day it hit me, Yes I am ready, Yes I want things to change, Yes I want it bad enough. It is a process, but you will get though it and when you least expect it the maternal instinct and desire will hit you and nothing can take that away.

What you're feeling is totally natural so don't freak out! Don't rush it if you just dont feel ready. You will know when you're ready. For me, it was like a lightbulb went off one day and I haven't looked back since. My dh wasn't ready when I was so I waited for him to be more comfy. I'd estimate that we talked about it for a good year before actually committing to it. It takes time so don't worry!

Re: doubting myself and everything
The first time we had "unprotected" sex I was freaking out! I was on the pill for so long I felt so exposed! We both knew were were ready, but like PP said, we spent most of our life trying to avoid it, it just seems so strange! After a few weeks I felt better. I still get a little nervous when I think of what craziness and expenses lie ahead tho!

Re: doubting myself and everything
After taking BCP for so many years, I was really nervous the first time we after I stopped taking it. It's definitely a strange feeling, especially after spending so many years trying NOT to get pregnant.

Re: doubting myself and everything
I was so scared too.. OMG.. we wanted to start in Jan 2010, but then I chickened out and then decided we'll start in November and I chickened out again. Honestly, fear of the unknown is natural, all the what ifs and how will I ever be a mother, wife, daughter, sister, and work is something that I think all women go through.. and the changes and how priorities will change etc... but believe that it can be done and when it does happen, everything will flow naturally and will happen for the good.
IMO doubting yourself and prepping yourself mentally and physically is way better than being over confident about something.. not just motherhood, just things in general

Re: doubting myself and everything
I feel the same way at times. We have been trying for 13 months and I am still nervous. Now, we need to do IVF, which makes me even more nervous. I feel like if it just happened naturally, I could just go with the flow, but with IVF in the future I am completely overwhelmed.
I think your feelings are normal (or at least I hope they are!). This is a life changing event.

Re: doubting myself and everything
I didn't chicken out we like crazy during the fertile window last week on our honey moon. Used Preseed and did little tricks I've heard to get pregnant. Now I'm in the 2ww and freaking out! What if I'm not ready? What if life throws us another curve ball? I'm with you, freaking otu has to be normal or I'm going to need my own therapist!!!
