Would you get a travel system in a color you're not crazy about to save $?
Babies R Us is having a "trade-in" promotion where you can bring in a used car seat and they will give you 25% off a new one. We received a used car seat from a family member that I could trade in and BRU have the Peg Perego car seat in stock that I want but not in the fabric I was hoping to get.
It will save us $60 if we go with #1, which is "Java". #2 (grey polka dot) was my first choice.
Also, the Java pattern stroller is $65 cheaper on Diapers.com than the grey polka dot is at BBB.

Yes I would, and I did, and saved over $50. I ended up using the stroller a lot and while it wasn't a bad color (it was light denim with tan trim) it certainly wasn't my first choice. I ended up not even noticing after a while. I don't think the java is bad at all (though I do see why grey dot is your first choice )

I don't necessarily think that's too much cheaper to really get something different if you had your heart set on the polka dot one.
However, I think stroller pattern doesn't really matter-- and the colors are similar enough, I would just got for the cheaper one.

I can see why you like the polka dot better also. I would probably go for it =)
Heres how I would liook at it-- If its a big investment the $65 shouldnt make too much of a difference - your spending so much on it, might as well spend a bit more and get what you loc=ve. (assuming obviously that you can afford the extra $).
For exampled: I dont know the price of the stroller but if its say $500 v. $435 I would go for it.
If its $200 v.s $135 then I would probably just get the less expensive one.

When I was pregnant with my first I felt bad registering for super expensive items, knowing that friends and family would be buying them for us. SO I looked for a cheaper Graco Travel system. There were other travel systems that I really liked, but I decided on one that was less expensive because I figured that they were all the same anyway (I was naive apparently!) and just felt bad.
Anyway, I never liked my travel system. The car seat was great but the stroller was not great. The basket was tiny and hard to get things in and out, and the stroller didn't have a lot of great features that my friends' strollers had. I remember going to Sesame Place with our stroller when DD was llike 10 months, and eying everyone else's longlingly because I was trying to jam the diaper bag into our tiny basket.
I say register for what you LOVE! It's an important purchase, and you should be completely satisfied with your choice!

Nope. BBB has the polka dot but BRU does not and BRU is running the promotion so I would have to go with the colors they have available.

I'm not registering for these. We are buying them ourselves and the total savings would be about $150 on the $680 travel system.
I do think the polka dot would be cuter for a  . Ugh, decisions, decisions!

Well, the choice you have there is not bad, so I'd go with it. If it was hideous, I wouldn't. I wanted the green/brown stroller of my stroller when I registered, but I found it online for my SIL (she wanted to buy it for me) in the year before's model for $150 less and it didn't come in the green/brown I wanted, so I had her get the blue/brown.

FYI I have the Java and it is really, really nice, I like it better than the polka dot actually...something about chocolate brown!

You can always TRY on the coupon. I've had them take coupons before at BBB when it was for an "excluded" item. Not all cashiers even pay attention to that stuff. And while I'm not one to "break the rules" the coupons can make a huge difference on a large ticket item.

Also ... BRU takes BBB coupons, and you can use Bed Bath & Beyond coupons also at BBB and BRU because technically Bed Bath & Beyond owns BBB so they accept their coupons.
Kinda crazy! Little things you learn along the way!
