As a guest, would you like this?

DH & I want to have one more outdoor party before the season is over. We're having it the last Saturday in September, so it will technically be the fall, and we love the fall!

Instead of doing a traditional barbecue, we were thinking of doing this: We'll probably start around 3 p.m. , and every 1/1.5 hours or so, we'll bring out a new selection of fall inspired appetizers (mini meatballs with different vegetable toppings, cheeseburger quiche instead of on the grill, pumpkin ravioli, dip with a spider web design in it, etc). Figure we'll bring out about three new appetizers each time.

Around 8/9, we'll do fall inspired desserts, and throughout the day we'll have fall wines and maybe some cider or something (in addition to water, soda, and beer).

As a guest, would you like this or would you want the traditional barbecue food?

As a host, it sucks! We did this for Christmas one year and you're constantly cooking/cleaning something else. I literally spent the entire night in the kitchen (and most of it was premade/frozen).

Yes and no....I LOVE the idea and the menu sounds delish, but I wouldn't space it out so far. Even an hour would be awhile to wait between apps even if you did 3 at a time. I would plan it for more 3 apps every 1/2hr and go from there.

It seems like too little food but I am Italian so maybe that is why I think that.

hope my invite's in the mail. That sounds fun and delish. I would also do every hour with some staple foods out that would stay in between like a crudite, hummus and pita chips, terra chips, cheese and cracker platter (maybe even like a meat/cheese board)

I went to a tapas place recently and my friend took a pic of the Italian board that we got....so good:

eta: along with the meats and cheeses, there was fig jam, hazelnuts, crusty bread with olive oil and salt, grapes, olives etc

For the meatballs, I make my regular meat balls only smaller/bite sized.
Take a can of cranberry sauce and the same amount of spagetti/maranara sauce. Melt the cranberry sauce, add the red sauce. Add the cooked meatballs.
I make it for thanksgiving but it would be great during the fall.
