I need Tree people

Recs for a company to remove these damn trees off my property. The one on my front lawn has seen better days, with every storm we loose a branch. Irene pretty much destroyed it. The others in my back, are a hazard too just way to old and large, and will take my house out if they fall.

Any recs? im mid suffolk.

He took down a BUNCH of trees for us (some huge, some smaller), and even threw in one extra for free. He was much cheaper than anyone else we got quotes from.

We have called SO many people this morning and all of them are busy now. Most calls went to VM and one person told us that the earliest they could get out to estimate is next week! Half of our giant oak fell and we want to get the other half because it's right over our kids' swingset/fort. I can't even let them outside yet!

I'll say this.. I was shocked by the initial estimate we got from the guy down the block.. $3000!!! ONE tree!!

I called two places I've already used in the past, thinking they might have higher priority/lower prices for existing customers. RJK in St. James and North Country Tree in St. James.

I have an immediate need because a tree is leaning on my power lines but if I didn't, I wouldn't try right now. I agree with smdl about price gouging.

Also, I'd consider what the lack of trees in your yard will do to the shade on your house. You will feel the difference if you remove a shade tree. All of my mature trees right next to my house did just fine. I'd think it's the unhealthy ones that should be taken care of asap.

Thanks ladies. My fil is going to chainsaw the front maple, because there is literally four large branches left. We lost all the others in the storm and previous storms. We will just need the stump removed for that.

As far as the shade goes, the way the sun rises and sets, thebtrees dont help either way. they are just a hazard and give me way to many leaves come fall

I will give thwm a call in the next few weeks, after the rush is over.

Cheap Charlies. They have Nassau and Suffolk locations. They were the cheapest by far. Of course if you call now you'll just get a busy signal

They were VERY reasonable when we took down a tree earlier this year, and we will call them when the craziness dies down to take down two locusts in our yard, because 98% of the trees that fell in my neighborhood were locusts (including the two that fell INTO our yard) and I won't take any more chances!

Edited to add that John from Environmental Tree was just at my house with my husband to assess the fallen tree situation. Not only did he assure us that we don't have to worry about the one coming all the way down on our house (the tree it is leaning on will hold it) but he told us how we could cut up the fallen one ourselves if we wanted to.

And he honestly let us know that they may not be able to remove the hanging tree, and it might be more cost efficient (as frightening as this is) to hire a crane company to remove it.

He will forever get our business!

Jenn I think you are close to me. We used Lyon Tree Service (631) 737-6347 once in the spring and then they came today to take down a tree that snapped during the hurricane. Great guy and reasonable!
