Hospital ? for moms of 2+

Would you deliver at a hospital that's about 30 min away or would you stick to your orig hospital if it's a lot closer?

With DC #1 I delivered at a hospital that was close by. L&D was great, but I hated the maternity ward. This time I'd really like to go to Stony Brook, if possible (my brother works there), but I'm nervous...I keep hearing that labor is much quicker the 2nd time around & I don't know if adding 20 min to the ride is such a good idea. What would you do?

I delivered at St Catherines the first time, it was 7 minutes away. Now I am delivering at Stony Brook, still close by, but being here now I can tell you that it is very nice here. Private rooms, great staff. Yes, your labor "can" go quicker, but I still thin 30 minutes is fine.

We just moved out east and we just decided to switch to a hospital out here with baby #3. Decided best to be at a closer hospital incase of emergencies. Plus winter coming didn't want to have to travel in bad weather for Dr appointments.

My labor wasn't really that much quicker the second time around. Not enough that I wouldn't make it to the hospital. But every labor is different. I delivered at Stonybrook. It is very nice, compared to my first experience in Brooklyn.

Put it this way, if you can't make it, go to the one closer to you. If you can, take the ride to Stonybrook.
