Need something.....reassurance....anything

So I'm back. We are trying for baby #2. It was a bit difficult with #1 because I had 2 miscarriages before we finally had a successful pregnancy. I went off the pill in April and didn't have a period for 6 weeks after that. I have been testing with the O sticks, but haven't gotten any positive results.

My periods for the last two months have been right on schedule so I should have O'd on Monday or yesterday at the latest. Yes, I know it is possible that I could still get a positive result tomorrow or even later, but I'm starting to worry that I'm not O at all :(

Has this happened to anyone? Does anyone have any advice? positive words? anything? I just want it to happen already and don't want to have to go through what I did last time.

Some people dont get + opks thought its rare. ARe you taking them at the right time? If AF is always right on time, that's a good sign... If you suspect you're not Oing, you should see a dr. They can run bloodwork/tests to determine if you are or not. That would figure out your next step. I hope ttc for #2 is easier than #1 for you.

Good luck!!

To be sure I understand, you went off the pill in April and have been testing with OPKs since then and have never seen a positive? Which OPK tests are you using? What time of day are you testing?

The good news is that your period is on schedule. You may just have a shorter LH surge and might be missing it on the tests. Have you been temping or tracking your CM? CM would be a very good indicator.

If you're not already, I would start testing twice a day starting on CD9. I would test in the early afternoon (like between noon and 2pm) and then in the evening (pick a time between say, 6pm and 9pm to test at each day). Also look for CM.

If you're using the line OPK tests, consider switching to the smiley face tests. Or if you're using the cheapy OPK tests, consider switching to a namebrand OPK test. Some are more sensitive than others and if your surge is shorter, you could just be missing it.

On the days you have EWCM, I would BD every day and also on the day after you stop having EWCM.

These are all things I did when TTC my son, hope it helps!

I'm using the same OPK's I used last time I had baby #1. Those worked well for me, but I do try convincing myself maybe it's just not working now. A couple of days I have tested two times in one day and nothing! My periods for the last two months were pretty regular though so maybe it's just all about the timing. We have been BD every other night so I'm hoping that maybe there is still hope for this month! When i got pregnant with my daughter, my cycles were between 31 and 35 days, so I o'd about day 21. Right now I'm at day 17 so maybe there is still hope! Keeping my fingers crossed!

We'll see.

my cycles are about 28 - 31 days. is that considered consistent? I don't know.

To answer the next question, I have tested some days twice a day when I felt I may have been O, but we've been Chat Icon every other night. Last night I really felt I may have been O because I wasn't feeling so hot. Today I got the faintest, and I mean faintest line. I'm going to hold my pee for a while now and test in again in a little while to see if maybe I'll get a darker line. Does the faintest line mean there is somewhat of a surge?

Well you will have LH in your system at various points of your cycle. A surge (that indicates ovulation is happening in 12-36 hours) will show as a very dark line, as dark or darker than the control line. If it's in any way lighter than the control line it's a negative OPK and just a normal LH fluctuation.

A very faint line is definitely a negative OPK.

If your cycle is 28-31 days then you are likely Oing between CD12 and CD21. It's a big range, but that's because the normal luteal phase is 10-16 days. So being that you're around CD17 now, you might still be ovulating in the next few days!

Definitely keep testing. Try testing twice a day (early afternoon and then in the evening) and hold your pee for a few hours before you test.
