Re: I need some recipes to make for our block party

1 box small shell pasta
3 garlic cloves
yellow cherry tomatoes
cherry tomatoes
1/2 cup black olives, pitted
2 tablespoons fresh chives
1/4 cup fresh basil
1 medium cucumber
4 tablespoons white wine vinegar
7 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
sea salt
fresh ground black pepper

Bring a large pan of salted water to the boil.
Throw in the pasta and garlic and simmer for about 5 minutes or until al dente, and drain.
Put the garlic to one side for the dressing.
Put the pasta in a bowl.
Chop the tomatoes, olives, chives, basil and cucumber into pieces about half the size of the pasta and add to the bowl.
Squash the garlic cloves out of their skins and pound in a pestle and mortar.
Add the vinegar, oil and seasoning.
Drizzle this over the salad, adding a little more seasoning to taste.

Cowboy Caviar

1 (15 ounce) can black-eyed peas
1 (15 ounce) can black beans, rinsed and
drained
1 (15 ounce) can whole kernel corn,
drained
1/2 cup chopped onion

1/2 cup chopped green bell pepper
1 (4 ounce) can diced jalapeno peppers
1 (14.5 ounce) can diced fire-roasted tomatoes,
drained
1 cup Italian-style salad dressing
1/2 teaspoon garlic salt

I also add in 2 chopped avocados and the juice of 1 lime.

In a medium bowl, combine black-eyed peas, black beans, corn, onion, green bell pepper, jalapeno peppers and tomatoes. Season with Italian-style salad dressing and garlic salt; mix well. Cover, and refrigerate overnight to blend flavors.

Re: I need some recipes to make for our block party

We had ours last month during the heat wave, I tried to stick to cooler foods and nothing with cheese/dairy so it wouldn't spoil. I tried some new recipes.

I did an Orzo with corn and cherry tomoatoes salad. Just sauteed some frozen corn with olive oil and garlic, tossed it with cooked orzo, halved cherry tomatoes, olive oil, salt, pepper and grated cheese. Really easy and a crowd pleaser.

I made a bean salad: 2 cans kidney beans, 2 cans cannelini beans, 1 package frozen french string beans (the skinny ones), chopped red onion. toss with olive oil, salt, pepper, etc.

I also made a potato salad without mayo. Boil poatoes, peel & cut into chunks. toss with chopped celery, red onion, olive oil & salt, pepper and adoboe(the one without added salt)

I did a rice & pasta salad.

Made all these salads the day/night before and let them sit in the fridge to fully marinate in the dressings.

I made corn bread, with actual corn in it..let me know if you want the recipe- it was delish.

Apps:
A friend made some Pizza's. Get fresh pizza dough from a pizza place and play around with toppings.
Another friend made crsecent rolls stuffed with different things: pesto, pepperoni & mozzarella, an artichoke spread.
Also made a Mango Salsa.

We made burgers, hot dogs, different marinated chicken legs, wings & thighs. then we picke dup 2 boxes of pre-marinated sish-kebabs from a distributor that makes them for the carts in the city- those were a HUGE hit.
