Would it be really mean of dh and I to...with poll

Being that I am contracting regularly and the doctor said it could be any day now, dh and I are trying to decide on a name for our bean. We've pretty much decided on a first name, but it's the middle name we are having an issue with. I would love to use my cousin's (she is my Godmother) name as bean's middle name. She and I are very close, and I know she would feel really honored. Here's the issue. The first name we love is four syllables, the middle name would be 4 syllables and our last name is another 4 syllables, which makes for a very long name. Dh does not like the name enough for a first name but is fine with it for a middle name. Is it mean to give our baby a 12 syllable name? The reason I don't believe it is a big deal is because how often do you use your middle name? I use my initial all of the time but I think the only time I've used my middle name was on my college diplomas and my wedding invitation. Input please!!

I wouldn't even consider the amount of syllables in the total name as a deterrent.. as you said how many times do people actually use their middle name?

i could understand the concern if it was a combination of the first and last name that was that long, but in this case i think you're fine!

I doubt it would bother her at all, but I think it will bother you when she is two and you are trying to yell at her using her first and middle name as all mothers are known to do!

I honestly think it's fine. All of the names I am in love with for girls are 4 or 5 syllables long, and you're right, you almost never use the middle name.

I agree with what you said in your post. How often do you really use your middle name?? I think it would be fine to use both long names together.

I use my middle initial for everything but that's about it. Some people in my family call me by my middle name but most by the first. No one calls me both names together. If you like it go for it

I actually almost did the same thing- 4-4-4....our very Catholic mothers encouraged us to use Maria as a middle name so we will end up 4-3-4 for a girl. I see no problem with it!

My name is 4-4-3 (first, middle, last # of syllables). It's totally fine, but for DS we did 2-2-3. If we have more kids, I think I'll stick with either a longer first and shorter middle, or a shorter first name and longer middle name.

I have a long first and last name...together with my middle name it's 9 syallables.. I dont think it matters at all. Never bothered me.

Go for it. Like you said, how often do you call yourself by your first, middle and last name.
