Predicting Gender
DH and I will be TTC our first baby soon. I would be happy with having a girl or a boy, as long as the baby is happy and healthy.
However, growing up in a family with one sister and no brothers, I really would like to have a son. There is something comforting to know my other children will have an "older brother" to protect them, I know I always wanted one.
DH comes from a very macho family and is expected to carry on the last name, he has 2 older sisters.
So, my question is...have you tried any of the tips from books or online and succeeded? i.e.
-sexual position -change in diet -how many times and how closely to O you did -whether you had an O or not
I know some people may find this question controversial and I'm not trying to start any drama, I was just curious. I will be over to moon ecstatic with either a boy or a girl.
Thanks!

Re: Predicting Gender
yay on TTC. Best of luck to you in your jorney! What Ive read is that if you are trying for a boy you should as close as possible to O since boy sperm swim faster but die quicker. So the closer to O the better.

Re: Predicting Gender
It's been said that "male" sperm swim faster but dont live as long as "female" sperm. That being said, try to as close to ovulation as possible. Our eggs only live 24hrs after they're released.

Re: Predicting Gender
This site has a fertility calendar that tells you when to based on your cycle. When you enter date of last period, you can also click "boy" to see when you should try!

Re: Predicting Gender
I'm not sure being new to TTC myself. But I do know my friend Donielle tried EVERY trick in the book to get a girl and she is having a boy. She even read an entire book on how to control the sex of the baby and only had sex accordingly. So I don't know...

Trying all the tricks and advice for a certain gender will never guarantee that gender. It only increases your percentage. So if by just BDing you have a 50% chance of either a boy or a girl, by following the tricks you might sway it 70/30 or 80/20. Some will have success and some will not, but if you want to try for a boy I would definitely only BD on the day I got a +OPK and the two days after. I would not BD before I got the +OPK since the girl sperm will still be alive inside and already up close to where the egg is released so they will have first dibs haha.
