sleeping position
yet another q.. i know
can i like, not ever, sleep on my right side? I have about 3 pillows buffering me on all sides, and I just can't get comfy. I'm a belly sleeper through and through, and I catch myself from rollin over on my belly.. but now my left side is achy.. my left arm, my hips and I feel so guilty when i turn to my right side or on my back.. when I doze off and roll on to my right side and feel the baby kick, I immeditatley roll back to my left side.. I can't sleep, I'm tired, I feel like a zombie.

Re: sleeping position
i flip back and forth. i can't sleep on my back because i can't breath that well when I do...so I usually start on my left side. During the night my hips and arms start to hurt so I'll flip to my right side until I start getting achy on that side. I can't really get comfortable for long either way though

Re: sleeping position
i sleep more on my right than left... it's more comfortable for me for some reason. it's fine. you're really fine in any position as long as your ability to breathe isn't compromised. sometimes i can lay on my back for a little bit (i mean like 15mins) without a problem. other times it's immediate shortness of breath.

Same. I flip back and forth but I stick to my right side for the most part. I used to be able to lay on my back until about a week ago. Now I just cant breathe if I do.

Re: sleeping position
I sleep on my back 75% of the time. I usually fall asleep on my left side but always wake up on my back. I put a body pillow down the center of the bed and rest half of my body on it while on my back (sounds a little weird) Its pretty comfy. My dr. said sleeping anyway is fine as long as you are comfy.

Re: sleeping position
I flip sides because I start to get uncomfortable.I also still find myself sleeping or waking up on my back sometimes and I'm 35 weeks. I dont get a shortness of breath. Sometimes it feels uncomfortable if I'm on my back too long, and then I move back to my side. I'm always moving around trying to get comfy!
Whichever way you feel comfy, should be fine!

Re: sleeping position
I flip back and forth throughout the night. To the girls sleeping on their back...I thought we weren't supposed to sleep on our back after 20 weeks because the weight of the uterus on the artery to the baby? I was told not to lay on my back...and I would love to! What's the deal?

it is my understanding that as long as it is not making it difficult for you to breathe, it's fine. that's how dr explained it to me. if you can't breathe that means uterus is pressing on the artery/vein that control blood flow to your heart.

Yes, that's it. And if that were happening, you'd wake up.
At 38w now, I wake up on my back a lot and feel very uncomfortable... like a kind of squeezing pressure in my chest and neck. Not pleasant. This just started a couple of weeks ago. So basically - sleep any way you want, any place you can get comfortable, and if some position ends up making it difficult to breathe... you'll just wake up, and flip over to your side.

Thanks so much for answering this! My dr made it sound like I should never ever lay on my back anymore! I'm so comfy on my back...for now at least.
