how to find pediatrician?
i've read that you can ask friends/family for pediatrician recommendations, but what are other ways you girls have found your peds? and also, if you're going off of a rec or something, how do you "interview" a dr to make sure you are comfortable w them? are the baby books just being overly informative when they give you a list of a million questions to ask potential peds? or has anyone actually interviewed peds to find the best one for you? and if anyone has, did you call over the phone, or did you make an appointment and meet w them in person? TIA...

Re: how to find pediatrician?
For me, I went on my insurance web site first. I did a search and came up with a list of ped. that are affiliated with the hospital I am giving birth at. This is not essential. If your ped doesnt have rights at that hospital they can be seen by the on call dr....depends how you feel about that.
Anyway, i furthur narrowed the list by location. Then I researched them by doing a google search etc. Many of them came up with reviews. I also did a search on here to see what other people have said about certain dr.'s. Also, I asked people to recommend on the Parenting board based on certain criteria I had. After narrowing the list down to a few, I called the office and asked if they do consults, most did. One of the dr.'s I am meeting with this month does a monthly group session.

I did the same. I went through my insurance book and made a list of pediatricians in my area. I then googled all of them for reviews and then did a search on here for more reviews. I then set up four interviews and the last doctor we just saw we wound up loving. Good luck with your search!

Re: how to find pediatrician?
My lamaze instructor gave me a few recommendations and I narrowed it down by seeing which ones accepted our insurance. I called both offices and made a "meet the doctor" appointment.

Re: how to find pediatrician?
I asked my OB/GYN who he recommended. He has 4 kids and they all went to the practice he recommended. I figured if another doctor likes them, they must be good. I called them, met with one of the doctors in the group and that was it. i wasn't intending on "interviewing" them, but when I called to say I was expecting, they invited me to come in. we have been very happy with all of the doctors in the practice (there are 3) and all the nurses.
