Fertility report and even more questions!

Hi ladies! ER was yesterday, it went great, but I didn't realize HOW SORE I was going to be!!! I'm a lot better today, but still sore.

Anyway, they retrieved 22 eggs, 19 were mature, and 13 fertilized without assistance! I am so excited!Chat Icon

So...now I have more injection questions because I am THAT BIG of a baby. I iced the site before the HCG shot, and it went FABULOUSLY! But I read somewhere that you shouldn't ice before a progesterone shot??? What is your experience?

Thanks so much, ladies!

Re: Fertility report and even more questions!

great fert report!!

i always iced before PIO. ice for at least 5 minutes so its good and numb. then do the inject. within 5 mins of doing the inject use a heating pad for at least 30 minutes. when i followed that method i didn't have too many hard spots after. days that i got lazy and didn't ice or didn't use the heating pad long enough i would get very sore the next day. sometimes you cant avoid the soreness based on the placement of the inject. good luck!!

I did the same based on Flowerwife's advice Chat Icon and it worked well for me... BUT I didn't use the heating pad for quite as long and it was still fine for me. I used it for more like 10mins or so. I think it's a matter of experimenting to see what works for you. I wasn't patient enough to sit on the pad that long Chat Icon

That is a great number!

I think it is not recommended that you ice before the PIO since you want it to disperse which it wont do as easliy if it is cold. I'm not sure if the heating pad will solve that problem though. I've been doing the PIO shots for 8 weeks now and barely feel a thing. I never iced it and only used a heating pad for the first week or so. I think that the way to minimize pain and soreness is to get the needle in quick and push the PIO in slowly. Then I massage the spot pretty hard for about 30 seconds afterward. It's not bad at all after the first few times.

The first one is done! Thanks again for the support, ladies. I haven't told many people IRL that I'm doing this, so it's pretty lonely right now and I'm so glad to have you girls.

A little tip I found on the internet that I learned....I put the medicine in my bra 15 minutes before the shot so it would warm to my body temp! Don't know if it helped, but figured I'd pass it along.

Great report!
I usually put the PIO needle either on my laptop keyboard to warm it up, or in a heating pad..and lately I've just been holding it. It warms it up a little which I find helps w/ injecting. I always ice beforehand. HTH! Chat Icon
