Which carseat?
did you register for or do you have? I'm trying to avoid a travel system as much as possible.
I was looking into the Britax but I'm open to any.. TIA

Britax Marathon 70 Convertible. I was going to go with Sunshine Kids which also had great rating but everyone and their mother told me BRITAX 
And a Graco infant seat

Thanks ladies.. I swear, everyone around me is a walking, talking ad for Britax. So now I'm wth.. I need a darn good car seat. The carseat decision has seriously kept me up at night.. regardless of whatever I don't have for this baby, in order him/her to come home, I need a carseat..  
Also with Britax, does it come with a booster? What do you do when the baby outgrows the weight limit? The Chicco and Graco I think have boosters or something to that effect. I'm so lost and confused...

i got the peg perego primo viaggio infant seat
britax convertible seat
not worrying about booster capability at this point because it's way down the road and safety regs can change many times between now and then.

We got the Chicco Keyfit 30 for the infant car seat and the Britax Boulevard for the convertible.

dumb q alert... do we need a separate infant car seat?  or can the regular carseat suffice? it says 5 lbs to 65 lbs

You don't need a separate infant seat - you can just use the regular convertible.
I found it easier though to use an infant seat - I could strap DS into it in the house and then put it right into the base. If he was sleeping, I didn't have to disturb him. It also snapped right into his stroller when we went places as well.

This is exactly what I decided to do.
I bought the Peg Perego and put the Britax Marathon convertible on my registry.
