****QOTD 8.1.2011***
Hi Ladies,
Here is my first QOTD-
What kind of traditions did you celebrate growing up that you will pass along to your DC? What kind of traditions will you start?
For example, DH's family all make their own pizza for dinner the night before Thanksgiving. When DH and I moved in together then we continued this tradition in our home.

we have alot of cultural Italian traditions that were instilled in us early on. Like only fish on Christmas Eve and family dinners on Sunday. We hope to pass that on to any children we may have.

Re: ****QOTD 8.1.2011***
my family are very tight-knit. We call ourselves the irish version of the family on parenthood LOL
we all go out the first weekend of december and pick up our christmas trees. I can remember going when I was 3, and every year since, it's something we look forward to. We also always have thanksgiving at my aunts, and christmas at my moms, so I can not wait to take our LO along with us!
The youngest child in our family is 8, so now that DH and I are married, everyone's asking us asking when there will be another LO running around

Hmm..most are holiday traditions I guess. We get our tree and decorate it the day after thanksgiving. Christmas eve we do appetizers and watch a christmas carol, and christmas eve we also read the night before christmas.

Re: ****QOTD 8.1.2011***
my mom is from Finland, so there are alot of things I want to pass on to my future kids, certain holidays I'd want to celebrate that they don't have here- like name days (every name in Finland has a name day, it's like a 2nd birthday), May Day, Midsummer holiday etc. From DH's side, we'd have a lot of food traditions, for Christmas Eve his mom always does german food and on Christmas Day it's always italian. Also for New Years, we HAVE to have fish for good luck! lol I think it will be fun teaching our kids the things we grew up with
