I feel like there are boxes and bags everywhere left for us to unpack and orgnaize.

We moved in last weekend, and had off the entire week. It still looks like there is so much to do...

On a brighter note, we do love our new home!!! We already BBQ'd twice and have been sitting out back! It's nice to be out of apartment living and into a house!Chat Icon

it took a while... but we were recommended by friends to do one room at a time and that seemed to work out well. go by order of priority- kitchen, bathroom first. then living room, master br, etc... it will come together eventually. Chat Icon

and congrats on the new home!

a really long time!!! we still werent completely settled in until like a yr later! we would get tired of doing projects around the house and stop for a while and then have to get the ambition to start up again! whats helps is to tackle one room at a time otherwise you feel so overwhelmed!!

I know the feeling!!Chat Icon . Our DD is a little off adjusting to her new environment and we have had a ton of people coming in and out of the new house. Then my Dog is so upset, she paces around at night wimpering...or wants to play waking us up with a toy in her mouth. ( so we havent been sleeping). It's been funny, we were in the city for years and always living in a noisy bright area. So now being in the burbs, every little noise you hear...and it freaks us out. Chat Icon

Guess my whole family is adjusting.Chat Icon

Congrats to you!!!! I cant believe you are mostly unpacked already...I'm jealous.Chat Icon

Re: How long did it take you to settle into your home?

I sitll feel very unsettled and it's been 8 mths. I still don't have alot of things unpacked (unimportant things though, more decorative). I dont have any artwork, pics or wall decor up. I still am not sure where some clothes are, etc. I hate being so unorganized but with 2 dogs and an active child, it's been hard. I try to be easy on myself though...but yes its been difficult! I also have no help though so only on the weekend when DH gets home is there time for certain things. And then there is everyday chores, life, etc, that takes over.

Re: How long did it take you to settle into your home?

We moved in right after Thanksgiving and we were hosting Christmas so we rushed to get everything settled. We still have unpacked boxes in the basement tho, but most of it is unimportant stuff. We still have alot of organizing to do, but ever since spring/summer started we've been focused on the outside of the house.
As long as the important stuff is done, then just sit back and enjoy the house! Congrats Chat Icon

I know, It was terrible that day!!!!I feel bad for those movers. I was stuck cleaning the house in that weather.

I guess it takes a while to unpack and feel settled.

For us - forever, honestly I feel like there is always something that I want to still do or could do. But especially with 2 young kids it took a while to get unpacked and settled in!!

Congrats btw!

About a week and a half. I had 80% unpacked the day after we moved in. The rest I did during the week. The boxes were givng me a headache looking at them. At 2 full weeks, you never would have know we just moved in. Im very anal, and NEED things to be done, otherwise I cant relax.

We were unpacked relatively quickly as we did not have too much stuff. Sometimes, however, 20 months later I still feel unsettled. We have lots of painting and decorating still to do.

We did major construction to our house so it took 9 months before we moved in. Once we moved it took about a month to clear all the boxes, but that was because I was pregnant. Otherwise, it would have been much faster..I have major ocd with things laying around Chat Icon
