Need your opinion....
OK so I know when my shower is and I told a few of my close friends (since they asked ). Anyway one of those friends sent out an evite this morning for a Summer BBQ Bash on the Saturday before. My invites didn't go out yet since it's not until Sept17th.
I was a little surprised she did this b/c we all know that our friends tend to drink alot and sleep over - who's going to want to go to a baby shower an hour away the next morning? I'm very concerned that people aren't going to want to give up an entire weekend or be very hungover.
Am I overreacting?

IMO: u r in a pickle. its like if u say something u r the selfish pregnant friend that thinks its all about her but if u dont say something u r taking a chance in people missing the shower b/c of the way they usually are at those types of parties.
try talking to her!!!! Ask her if she really thinks its wise and if she thinks everyone will be okay to attend the shower next day. She shouldnt get mad - is it possible she just "didnt think".

I hate pickles I see already most people responded yes to her evite so I think its too late to talk to her, plus like you said I don't want to seem selfish. I told my mom about it and she seemed a little surprised and disappointed. All she said is see what they respond - if they are truly friends they will still come.

I think I would just remind her that your shower is the next day. She may have forgotten and maybe she can change the date of the BBQ. If she's a close friend I would just be honest and tell her that you're afraid people might be too hung over for the shower. I don't think you're overreacting. I would have the same concern.

I don't think it's too late to say something. It's not selfish to tell her that it's really important that your friends are there for your shower. She may not change the date, but if she knows how important it is to you that they are there, she might make sure that they all make it - hung over or not.

i might call and innocently say you're not sure if you can make it since your shower is the next day and you don't want over do it....kinda a "subtle" way of saying "heelllooo...what'cha doing to me??"

Is it awful that I responded to the evite (which everyone invited can read) and said that "I would tentatively attend since my shower is the next day I may have family from out of town visiting. So leave Sunday open :)"

No, I think that's good. Hopefully everyone will see that and remember that they have to be there on Sunday.
