crib
So my SIL wants to give us her son's old nursery furniture, it is a gorgeous set that cost about $4,000 and in perfect condition, only problem is that is a drop sided crib. My DH thinks he can just put screws in it so it will no longer drop down, but I am still a lil nervous..... Thoughts?

Re: crib
NOPE!
I'm sure it's beautiful, but no beauty or amount of money is worth using something that's been recalled. And I would never be able to trust something that's just been "rigged".
God forbid something ever happend, I feel that parents would never be able to forgive themselves.
All of the other furniture... GREAT! Just not a drop down crib.
But that's just me.

Re: crib
I personally wouldn't take it...all drop side cribs were recalled and I wouldn't feel comfortable using it, even if DH put screws in it. I would probably take everything except the crib and just buy a crib that matches the finish of the rest of the furniture.

Re: crib
we got a dropside crib and called the manufacturer and they sent us the kit to fix it for free. Good as new. I also read that the majority for all the dropside deaths was that people were putting on the dropside upside down, not the way it was intended to be put on causing it to malfunction.
You need to do what makes you comfortable though. Maybe if you decide you don't want the crib you can take everything else and buy a crib that matches the set.

Re: crib
Call the company and get the repair kit. With that, it's no longer a danger. If the company doesn't have a repair kit or tells you not to use the crib, then don't. But it should be a very simple fix.

Re: crib
I have a Bellini from 2007. There were no recalls on it, so we are still using it.
