Any info on TTC after BCP?
I have been off any BC products for two years now and am not TTC for another few months bc of my school program. My GYN is trying to get me on the Nuva ring but I told him i'm not bothering bc I want to start trying soon. He swears you can get pregnant immediately after BCP and your at your most fertile. How the hell is this true? Please help with any info

Re: Any info on TTC after BCP?
you can get PG right of any BC but Im not sure why you would want to start something new if you are going to TTC soon. Why mess with your cycle.

Im sure most people can, and I hope you are one of them. I was on the nuvaring for years and honestly it took my body about 6 months to regulate itself. GL on whatever decision you make.

Re: Any info on TTC after BCP?
You can definitely become pregnant right after coming off BCPs. I suggest you use another form of protection when you DTD for the next few months until you are ready TTC.

Re: Any info on TTC after BCP?
IMO i would just stay off BC and use other methods... my cycle is still messed up from being on BC for so long, I wish I would have stopped earlier

Re: Any info on TTC after BCP?
I got pregnant right off the Pill but miscarried at 8.5 weeks. My OB said there was no correlation but I've always wondered if the synthetic hormones could have messed with my system. I'll never know, but that being said, if you've been off for 2 years and will TTC in a few months, why go back on? Is there a medical reason to be on?

Crashing...
I got pregnant the month after I came off of BC (I had used the NuvaRing for about 7 years straight). So it's definitely possible.
I GUESS the theory is that while you're on BC, you're not actually ovulating. So when you get off the BC, your body is triggered to ovulate. I'm not sure how it makes you MORE fertile, but you are fertile.
Regardless, for 2 months, I wouldn't bother with it.

Re: Any info on TTC after BCP?
I went off the pill in April and my cycles were completely regular, right away. We aren't TTCing just yet but I just wanted to get off the pill for a few reasons so I'm happy I did.

No, i just really have to finish these last few months of school bc they require clinical work and I can't be prego during them. So he was trying to be helpful but I just rather use other forms non-hormone related just in case it sets my cycle off balance. Thank you ladies, I appreciate the info!!
and lots of for you all

Re: Any info on TTC after BCP?
I just stopped the pill 4-5 weeks ago... tested a couple of times just cause I was having strange cramping and spotting. Still haven't got AF but I was on it for 12 years We are trying tho... i'll keep you posted if I get BFP... I was hoping for that extra fertile period after the BCP to work in my favor, haha!

Re: Any info on TTC after BCP?
I know people that have got PG right after going off BC but I think it is different for every person. Some people have a tough time getting their body regulated. I was on Loestrin for like 3 years and a different pill before that. Loestrin really worked differently for me than the other pill- I didnt get my period on Loestrin. I talked to my OB about it b/c I was concerned it wasnt healthy. She said it's fine but that I should go off BC before TTC for about 6 months. She said because I didn't get my period that it meant my uterus is really thin and would not hold a pregnancy right away. Said that I could potentially get PG right away but would most likely miscarry so it would be best to wait. I have also heard it's good to go off for at least a few months before TTC just to get the hormones out of your body because they could potentially cause problems. With how prevalent things like autism and other issues are becoming I am not taking any chances... You never know what the link is between these issues, who's to say it couldn't be from the hormones in our bodies. JMO
