Genetic Testing
We aren't quite TTC yet but will be in by the end of the year. At my annual checkup, my gyno actually decided to do genetic testing for me--19 different tests! I'm curious if others had genetic testing too!
I'm 30, neither me nor DH have any history of genetic diseases but we are both Jewish so I know that Tay-Sachs was one of the tests.

Re: Genetic Testing
i had genetic testing. It's a good idea to have it done before getting pregnant, just incase you and DH are both carriers for the same genetic disorder.

Re: Genetic Testing
I think I had to do this before my first IVF cycle.... and I'm pretty sure they tested me for all kinds of stuff with my first pregnancy last year (after I was already pregnant)

Re: Genetic Testing
If its the same thing, I had immune and genetic testing, done by reprosource. it was not cheap and it was a lot of blood! but honestly, it wasnt bad at all.

Re: Genetic Testing
I inquired about it and my OB told me they genetic test once I get pregnant. Doesn't make sense to me.

Mine said the same for me. She said that insurance wouldn't cover it before I got pg, and that if I found out something bad, would that mean I'd never ttc and would only adopt? So she figured what was the point.
I'm Jewish too, btw, and had the full panel when I was 6w pregnant, and it was a load off my mind when everything came back negative.

That's really strange. My OB recommended we do it before hand which definitely makes sense. I would do a little more research on it and if you decide you want to do it before just insist they do it. I don't really see how it would make a difference after you get PG.
I will be doing testing soon.

Re: Genetic Testing
I just saw my obgyn and she knows we are TTC; she did not mention anything about genetic testing. We meet with a RE next month, so we will see what they say.
