When did you start buying...

diapers and wipes? I was at a small get together last night and all the ladies were telling me that I should start stocking up on diapers and wipes. I am almost 20 weeks. When did you start?

honestly i wouldnt start stocking up until after baby is birn & you can see what baby is good with. For now just buy a few of what you think you would like to use & when baby is born see if its ok with LO skin & doesnt irritate or fit improperly.

Re: When did you start buying...

I got some @ 25w I think. Two huge boxes. Then I got some as a gift & figure I might get some at my shower. I don't think I will be buying anymore though bc I hear some babies prefer one brand over the other and those sorts of things but I did want to have a good supply for when DS first arrives Chat Icon

um.. i haven't yet? i'm 30 weeks

i figured i'd buy a box or two of whatever the hospital recommends (when i go for childbirth prep class in 2 weeks, i'll ask them) so we have them on hand for when he's born

then depending on what he likes or doesn't have a reaction to, we'll buy more

Re: When did you start buying...

I'm 32 weeks and havent bought any yet.I dont think it's good to stock up too much because you dont know what brand will work with baby. You dont know if youll need newborn size and for how long if you have a bigger baby...plus, takes up space.

I'm going to wait and see how much I get at my shower, and then will probably get one or twobig boxes of newbornsand one of size 1s. I'm not going to go crazy.

I agree on waiting. We have tried almost all the brands and there are some we love and some we hate and some that have worked for a short time then he grew and they didn't seem to work as well at certain stages. Also, we registered for a 980 box of Pampers Sensitive wipes that someone purchased for us at our shower. For the first 2 weeks DS had horrible diaper rash, it was almost bleeding. Nothing worked. We even go a cream from the ped. I went on parenting to ask and someone asked if we used sensitive wipes bc their DC got a rash from them. We tried it, switched to a box of Huggies wipes that we also got at the shower and sure enough, rash cleared in less than a day. I had SOOOO many wipes that I couldn't use. Luckily my sister had a baby 4 months after me so they didn't go to waste.

Re: When did you start buying...

I got a box of newborn and a box of size 1s at my shower. I only ended up buying 2 more boxes of newborns. Wipes, if you see them on sale, might as well get them. Nothing really for them to get used to. Just look for thicker ones, like Huggies or Pampers Thick. Regular Pampers are pretty thin as are some other brands and when you have a bad poop situation you end up using a ton.

Re: When did you start buying...

you never know which diaper the baby will fit best with, so i'd wait. Some do better with huggies and some do better with pampers. So i'd wait and see. Chat Icon

Re: When did you start buying...

i'm due on Sunday and only have one box. I don't know what diapers are going to be good for her so I figured I wouldn't stock up on one particular brand.
