Re: soy and TTC?
its soy isoflavones that promote ovulation, not soy on its own. soy on its own is fine in small amounts but too much can have negative effects on estrogen. i would not recommend supplements of soy shakes for TTC purposes.
soy isoflavones act like clomid in some people. to use it effectively you would take a specific dose for 5-7 days starting around CD3. in theory this could trigger earlier ovulation in people with longer cycles. i tried it and i did ovulate that cycle (previously anovulatory due to PCOS) but i wasnt until very late in the cycle. im not sure i would say the soy did anything different for me, but clomid didnt work for me either. honestly if you already know that you ovulate, or if you dont know your cycles very well yet, i wouldn't recommend fooling around with it. it could do more damage than good if you aren't clear about your cycles and can monitor yourself.
