RE
We just recently started TTC and also found out I have PCOS so I don't ovulate regularly. I would like to try on my own for a while before trying fertility drugs, but its becoming pretty impossible when I'm not ovulating. I haven't even had a 2WW because I didn't ovulate the last 2 months and so far I haven't this month either
I know eventually I will have to try the clomid route, but I am just not ready for that yet. How long did you girls wait or try on your own before seeing an RE?

Re: RE
I started trying in August....but was having long irregular cycles and found out in Nov. that I had PCOS and wasn't ovulating. I decided not to waste time trying on my own if I wasn't ovulating so I went right to the RE that month. Did a bunch of testing and then did my first medicated cycle (with femara not clomid) in February and got pregnant with twins!
good luck

Re: RE
I don't have PCOS, but I tried for 6 months for #1 and 9 months for #2 before seeing the RE.

Well you know that I just found that I have PCOS as well, and DH and I discussed it and we are just not ready at this time to go whole hog and look into an RE. So our plan is just to have me try and lose a bit of weight in the next 5 months, see if my cycle regulates. If not then we will revisit it again, and try clomid for a couple of cycles, and then on to the RE. Everyone is different and it just depends where you are. We decided it was kind of a blessing in a way, so that we could get some more debt paid down and feel better when we revisit it in the next 5 months (provided we don't get a BFP before then)
Its a personal choice, Good luck!!!

Re: RE
I went to an RE BEFORE we started TTC to see what tests could be done beforhand so we didnt lose time once we were ready. I found out I had PCOS in November. Between Nov and April, I saw 3 REs (finally settled on one) and started Metformin in March. We started in April, and with my crazy hormones, I've only had one true 2WW. It may take longer with PCOS, so that's why we decided to go in full force. We were fully ready to become pregnant asap once we started which is why we decided to do it that way. Good luck!!

Re: RE
When you go to an RE, how long does it take to get all the testing done before they may start you on meds? Months? Weeks?

Less than a week depending on the tests and the meds. Metformin seems to be the first drug they prescribe you and they can garner all they need from a blood test.

dr Jeffrey Braverman is highly regarded on these boards.

i personally love him to death. i think that if it was not for him, i would not be pregnant now. he is everything you can ask for in a dr and person. I have PCOS, long annovulatory cycles, waited about 6 months, i wish i did not. Meds are REALLY not that bad. GL!
