Carpentar Ants

I found a huge black ant in my bathtub yesterday. Could this be a carpentar ant? Also has anyone treated them on their own instead of a company? I have a contract with suburban but for bug spraying and termites.

We had carpenter ants. At first we saw one here and one there, then we saw 3 in one day and then 4 and so on. Then when we were outside, we saw several flying ants (huge) coming out from behind our bushes (queens).

We tried raid, home defense, traps, etc. and nothing worked so we finally called Terminex who came and sprayed inside and out. It took 2 times for them to come and finally get rid of them. We also had to remove 2 large bushes in front of our house (where they suspected the colony to be).

Just b/c you found one doesnt mean anything. I have had about 15 total. But I read that its when you see more than 10 a day that you have to worry. Otherwise, dont worry. I also had a professional exterminator inspection before I bought my house and he told me you will see some inside, its when you see alot to worry.

Terro indoor ant spray and terro outdoor ant spray- I used it the first time this year and it worked. I sound like a commercial. LOL I had them in the bathroom and watched where they were coming from- they were getting thru a window sash, going into the tub taking water out of the tub drain and leaving. I do not live w/ 1 bug and have a clean house. I sprayed like crazy with the terro, sprayed the ouside with the terro outdoor spray, and recaulked everything. If all else failed I was going to call the exterminator, I have nto seen an ant since April. Bugs gross me out! I also kept the drain up so it was closed off like I was going to take a bath, even though I was not. Hope this helps.
