What type of smoke alarm do you have? Photoelectric vs Ionization - Is one better than the other?

I was looking at smoke alarms online bc we need one for DS' room and I saw that there are photoelectric and ionization alarms Some detect smaller particles (ionization) while the photoelectric detects larger more visible particles.

In reading about both, each seems to have drawbacks. I'm so confused about what to get. What do you have?

Anyone know someone in the FD, I wonder what they recommend?
