Ovulation Question
For those who were tested by a doctor to see if you were ovulating, how was it performed?
My gynocologist said "well if you are not getting your period then you are not ovulating" and referred me to an RE but, I was just wondering if there was a test to know this for sure and what it was.
I want to know if there is anything I can try to do to conceive naturally before I go on medication.

i don't know a whole lot, but i am pretty certain that if you are getting your period, that doesn't necessarily mean you are ovulating, so they do bloodwork to check (at least, they did for me)... but if you aren't getting your period at all, then there is no way you are ovulating. however, i think there is a med they can give you to jumpstart your period... i'm surprised that option wasn't discussed and they want to send you right to a specialist... unless there's more history behind this?

My doctor did a blood test to check my progesterone to determine if I ovulated on CD 28. I don't think it has to be done that day I just happened to be there, but I do think it is done later in your cycle. I do get my period but don't ovulate.

the doctor can see if you're ovulating by checking for your hormone levels in your blood. im not quite sure when exactly they can tell, but for me, they do blood on CD 3, 7 and 11- around there somewhere. I'm sure once they figure out why you aren't ovulating, you can see if any sort of natural methods will work before moving onto meds. Its definitelyy better that they referred you to an RE- my experience was that the gyn wasnt going to follow through very closely.

mine was in april, but I had just got off BC in march. I had previously went off BC and did not get my period for 8-10 months, but then it started fairly regularly. Before I was ever on BC, I always had an irregular period but would always get it at least 1 every 3 months.
I guess I will talk this over with an RE and if they can determine whats going on and suggest natural methods first that would be great!
