Lactating ALREADY?

So I'm 20 weeks. I feel like my breasts are ALREADY filling up with breast milk. Kind of like how I felt when I needed to pump with DS.

Is this possible? Nothing coming out...just the "full" feeling.

Re: Lactating ALREADY?

Your breasts don't start producing milk until they are triggered to do so by the detachment of the placenta. Then it's a few days after that that your milk would come in. All that would be in there now is colostrum and I think it would be unlikely that your breasts would feel full just from that. I was having that full feeling a few weeks ago too, I think it's just another symptom- for me, it went away after a week or so. With my last pregnancy, I started leaking colostrum around like 22 weeks or so I think. I'm 18 weeks now and haven't leaked yet. As I'm writing this though, I had a thought- how long ago did you stop BFing? I just stopped 2 months ago, so I know I still have milk. Maybe the colostrum is starting to be produced and, with the milk already in there, that's causing the full feeling? Just a thought!

I seriously doubt I have milk anymore, I stopped BFing when DS was 6 months and he's 20 months!! Your note concerned me a little so I left a message for someone at my OB to call me back. I mean, its not collostrum...I dont think, anyway. They feel seriously full. You've breastfed, you know that feeling I mean. Heavy, sore, even my nipples (sorry if TMI) look like they did when I was bfing!

Thanks!

I definitely have the same feeling and they are also leaking something whiteish at times. What is colostrum?

No, no, I'm glad you said something.
