If you don't own your dream house.........

What are some things you still LOVE about your home?

I'll start:

1.) Small enough that it doesn't take me all damn day to clean.
2.) We have a huge backyard and a deck that I absolutely love.
3.) Really nice neighbors on all sides of us.
4.) Close enough to "everything".
5.) Within walking distance of a town park/water.
6.) Lots of windows/natural light.
7.) Large kitchen and large master bedroom.
8.) Just small and cozy in general.

I am sure I will never have my dream house, but I really do like my house.

1. Vaulted ceilings with skylights
2. extra living room
3. large deck with pergola

4. with enough money and sweat equity, it could be a really cool house.

Yeah, if I ever hit a windfall I know exactly what we could do to make this our dream house.

I like my house a lot, although it's not my true "dream home" (in the sense of, if I won the lottery and could move or custom build a home, I definitely would!).

But I do like:

1) The curb appeal
2) Private yard with mature landscaping
3) Have living room and separate family room
4) Big eat-in kitchen, plus a formal dining room
5) Central Air
6) 3 zone gas heat
7) Finished basement
8) 2 car attached garage
9) Fireplace in family room
10) Master bedroom has its own bath
11) Powder room off den for guests
12) Good storage space

I forgot to mention:

I also love the fact that we have gas.

When I see my friends and family shelling out thousands of dollars during the winter months for oil, my monthly bill is only around $200.00 or less for gas!

-Manageable size in terms of cleaning/maintenance.
-Large lot size--I love my back yard
-Very private block--up a hill and a dead end, so people only really come up if they live here.
-Craftsman-style/cottage-y (painted paneling, nice wood work around fire place, ceiling beams) feel to the living room (which we tried to incorporate throughout the house and outside, too)
-Nice neighbors
-Big where it counts: Living room and kitchen are the biggest rooms, so for a small house, it's good for entertaining.

1. We live in my 'dream' town on Long Island - a great downtown and lots of activities and family events
2. We have a wonderful, quiet neighborhood on a safe, dead end street
3. Lots of kids nearby for my sons to connect with
4. My property is actually a nice size.. great backyard - but small enough that we don't need to hire a landscaper to keep things tidy.
5. We have enough room for me to have an office and Rob to have his gym.. plus a playroom for the kids, a bonus work room and a large laundry room.
6. My kitchen is going to be great once it's finished!
7. Lots of storage/closet space
8. Fantastic insulation and high quality windows and doors.
9. Love our oak flooring throughout the house.
10. It's affordable.. we aren't upside down on our mortgage by a long shot and it's retained it's value nicely during the housing dip!

1- I love the area!!
2- Big bedroom and living room.
3- Lots of closets.
4- It's a co-op so anything we need fixed, shoveled, mowed etc. gets done by maintenance.

1. Overall, I like the layout. I am just not crazy about where the downstairs bath is located.

2. The fact that we have space to expand if need be.

3. The high ceilings.

6.) No lawn maintanence required.
7.) Utilities are included in our common charges.
8.) Town has a great school district.
9.) Access to public transportation for DH's work commute.
10.) Affordable with DH's salary alone & we both don't have to work 50+ to afford expenses.
