Where do I find someone to help with basic gardening?

I know I can call in a landscaping company for hundreds of dollars to do this for me, but I just do not have that type of money.

I'd love to find somone (neighborhood kid or someone looking for a side job) to come and help with weeding, laying mulch out for $10 hour.

Does anyone exist like this anymore? Where would I find them? I just can't keep up with my backyard, and need to get TONS of weeds pulled to get me started...

Any ideas? I am Mid Suffolk, and I think the cheapest I could find on Craigslist was $20 an hour.

What about making a small sign with your number on it and posting it at your local deli, supermarket, etc.?

I'd also ask parents in the area. There's a girl a couple of houses down that walks my neighbor's dogs from time to time. You never know what kid is looking to earn extra cash for summer.

I would definitely check with some of the parents in the neighborhood about their teenagers - there are a few in my neighborhood that come around for shoveling snow, raking leaves and mowing the lawn.

In a few weeks, I will be "hiring" my 14 year old nephew to help me build some raised planting beds in the backyard.

Thanks, I will be on the hunt for sure. At my old house I did have a neighborhood kid help me out all the time...I miss him. Just have not seen anyone in my neighborhood now doing any work like this..doesn't hurt to ask around though
