Where to go? South of France
DH's request to add this to the last leg of our trip. I don't drink wine but he does. He's thrown Nice, Aix-en-Provence, and Le Baux out there but I know nothing about the area.
Figured I'd start with you guys! Anyplace that you would spend 6 days in? Day-trip must sees? We'll probably rent a car for this too.
Thanks!

Re: Where to go? South of France
I've been to Nice and Cannes before. In July DH and I are doing a Med cruise mainly around the south of France and Corsica and then spending two nights in Cannes and one in Monte Carlo after it ends. I'll have more for you then about the other places.
Nice is a great place to base yourself. There is a lot to do and see (Chagall and Matisse museum, if you like that stuff)) in Nice. It's also about a half hour away from Cannes and Monte Carlo.
If you are interested in wine, why not try Burgundy? It's not in the south of France, but it's great for wine tasting. You can also try Bordeaux on the Atlantic Coast. I did a bike trip of Burgundy and I loved, loved, loved it.
What time of year are you going?

St. Tropez, Monaco, Nice&Cannes. There is a town I totally forget the name but its right on the border of Italy and the south of france and it's more Italian than French and we loved it!!!

Re: Where to go? South of France
Middle to Western side: Sete (cute little port)
Stop by Nimes on the way South. Go to the Roman aqueduc and the colliseum in the City itself. I LOVE Nimes
Eastern Side: Cannes St Tropez Monaco/Monte Carlo Nice (but there are no public beaches with sand). Not much to see though. The waterfront avenue is famous. That's about it!
If you can, visit Grasses. That's the factory with they flowers, etc... to make parfums. You can buy soaps, etc...

Re: Where to go? South of France
Thanks ladies! We're going in September. DH saw one of the Samantha Brown travel shows where she went to Aix en Provence and he's totally stuck on the idea now. Not really a hop skip and jump to any of these locations! So I don't know what we'll do. Maybe take the train to the other places - Cannes, Nice, Monaco. It's about four hours.
