Nautical Bathroom ideas
So we finished our basement and we are doing a bathroom there too.
I was thinking nautical. It is a small bathroom it has a small vanity and a shower (no tub)
I was thinking white wainscoting and the top of the wainscoting a navy.
Shower curtain I was thinking Navy and White striped.
Porthole mirror
and the towel racks and rings will be thick boat rope
I wanna maybe get a life preservers
any other ideas??

sounds great. I would get a distressed looking oar for decoration, or to use as a shelf.

We have a half-bath with a nautical theme and found Home Goods was great for little knick-knacky things for the walls and shelves. Home Goods has a whole nautical aisle in the summers.

consider bringing wood color into this -
navy walls /navy shower curtain might be too much
- more whitel ess navy- with touches of wood/silver

I know someone who did navy walls in a basement bathroom and the condensation after showers left streaks on the walls that were really obvious all the time, she wishes she'd gone with a lighter color.

DH made our small master bathroom "his" and it's a "nautical/lighthouse" theme. We did navy tile in the shower and also half-way up the wall. There is a tile border and then the wall is painted white on top. We found cute curtains for the window with lighthouses on them, as well as a wall paper border to match (which we haven't put up yet since DH is still spackling some parts of the wall he refinished). There is a small floating shelf on the wall and there are some white pillar candles and some little lighthouses and ocean shells we picked up in Montauk. On the other wall, there is a navy-blue framed pictures of a sailboat.
I took pictures of each thing I mentioned, since taking a picture of the bathroom as a whole would be scary (it is DH's bathroom after all!)....
all cell phone pics with flash, so the color is very off. The walls are really glossy white and not bluish-turquoise:
