when do we get a closing date?
in our contract, which was signed on 3/31, our on or around date for closing was set for 6/15. Now i understand that could be plus 30 days but we still havent heard anything.
our mortgage is in the final stages, we should have a final committment letter today.
is this normal? i am really hoping the seller isnt playing games

We are waiting on out closing date too.
You should have an exact date by now though, if your contract says 6/15. It doesnt have to be that exact date but they should of all discussed a final closing date.
Our contract says 7/1 as closing. We have been trying to get an exact closing date for the past 2 weeks and nothing yet. Our lawyer said it was too early to figure it out...so hopefully this week they will. I know it can take sometime just bc you have to have a date that works with you, the seller, both attorneys, bank.
I would def call your lawyer and have him give them a hard time!!!

sorry this is happening to you, our sellers dragged out the closing process too.. we were supposed to close may 30th and they kept dragging the process out, i guess they wanted their daughter to finish out the school year because we finally closed the end of june. definitely call your lawyer or realtor to see if they know anything... good luck, i know its so frustrating but it will happen!

this is part of the issue and the reason we waited until june to close. we were anticipating 7/1 so that this woman's kids could finish school but still nothing. grrrr

Its not unusual to wait for the mortgage commitment before nailing down a date.

If the mortgaged isnt finalized then you probably wont get one until it is. The bank atty will need to get soem paperwork together once its finalized and then they usually reach out to the buy/seller's atty for a few dates that will work.

You will not get a closing date until you have your final mortgage commitment.

We didn't have a final closing date until our mortgage was set and we had the commitment letter.

I think the buyer's lawyer sets it up--so call your lawyer and ask!!

I don't know if you remember one of my old posts, but I just recently went throught something like this. However according to my lawyer you "legally" have up until July 15th to close.
If you haven't heard anything of a closing date yet, I suggest you call your lawyer and let him/her put a little pressure into getting a closing date from the seller. This is what I did and I got them to agreed on July 7th.
Good luck! I know is a long process I'm going through the same thing. We need a lot of patience
