anyone add undercabinet lighting?
The sellers of the house we are buying are taking the undercabinet lighting with them so we will want to replace them.
Are they hard to install? I don't want wires everywhere...what did you buy, how do you do it? LED, flourscent, halogen, incandescent, xenon - what's the difference? best?
THanks!

Re: anyone add undercabinet lighting?
Mine look amazing when they are on but the bulbs get very hot and I do not feel that they are safe. We don't use them. They are not like ceiling bulbs that are safely out of reach. The one under my microwave seems to be okay and I think it's a different kind of bulb plus there is a grating over the bulb. I have accidentally banged my hand into the hot ones while cleaning. As great as they look when they are on, I feel that they were a waste of money. See if you can find some that have more safety features.

My parents have it, it took my FIL about an hour to install it for them. They are LED and perfect for the kitchen. They have wires thst connect them to each other but you can see the wires unless you look under the cabinets.

Re: anyone add undercabinet lighting?
Our kitchen guy did florescent lights under the cabinets, I thought he was going to do Halogen, but thank goodness he didn't. Halogen bulbs are so hot. Mine are just like those regular strips and the electrics are flush into the wall. Good luck!

Not sure what it is called but we have little bulbs on a track - the electrician installed them. I know they weren't cheap and they really light up the bottom of the cabinets

Re: anyone add undercabinet lighting?
We are in the process of renovating our kitchen and undercabinet lighting is something Rob is working on for us. I do not know which kind or why - but I will ask. It's a pita for Rob because it's more wiring he's running through the walls.. but if the owners are taking the lighting with them it means the electric is already there so it shouldn't be too much of an issue to replace the lighting units though.

Re: anyone add undercabinet lighting?
My kitchen was recently done and the wires are run but we have not installed anything yet. The lights I am researching are soo expensive I just don't want to spend a fortune on silly lights but I don't want fluorescent either.
