As soon as we moved back to NY. After the second contact fell thru, we waited to mention anything else. Once we had all signed, we told family.

When we put our offer in and it was accepted I don't see any reason to keep it secretive...

I'm not a secretive nor superstitious person. Friends/family know we've been looking, and know we fell in love with a particular house. So we told them when our offer was accepted on that house.
I like to be optimistic and believe everything will work out...

We told people we were looking but we didn't tell everyone until we signed the contract.

I waited until we were in contract and almost cleared to close. My extended family is so nosy and wants to put their two cents in when I really don't care. Only both of out parents knew through the whole process. Beyond D their opinions were the only ones that counted to us

Pretty much everyone knows we are selling and buying and where we are in the process - but I try not to make too much of it because I hear so many nightmare stories of deals falling through. This is my 3rd buy but the first one I'm nervous about....

I was an open book. I discussed our house hunt with friends, family, co-workers, etc. So most people knew when we made an offer, went to contract, etc.
I didn't see any downside to sharing the information. In fact, I've found that house hunting is a topic that most people can relate to and enjoy discussing!

Same - just our parents knew. My mom actually came to the house with us the first time we saw it.
