Re: what are antral follicles and?
Are these the ones that are sometimes leftover from the previous cycle. When they re-fill with fluid? If so, they did tell me that I might get only one follie instead of 2 for that cycle and it proved true.

Re: what are antral follicles and?
i am probably going to butcher this... but...
your afc is done on cd3. They count how many follicles are on each ovary. These are the resting follicles and most likely only one matures and the rest don't.
You want a lot of follicles because it means you have a lot left in your reserve.

Re: what are antral follicles and?
Sometimes these cd 3 follies can be real follies. If that's the case then your estrogen will be high and you can't cycle but you might o on like cd 5/6. If it's just fluid and your estrogen is low or nothing, you can usually cycle but for some reasons dr b said you get less follies. I usually get 2 and he said I'd only have 1 by cd 10 and he was right. Not sure why. It always confuses me.

Re: what are antral follicles and?
Yes, AFC is measured at your first sono (either CD2 or 3 depending on your protocol). Its your resting follicle count (looks like tiny little black spaces on the screen). It is a good indicator that with the right stimming protocol they will all turn into mature eggs. However, I've had more join in the party. I mean they can't see 3D so there could be some under others etc... And sometimes, they don't grow. Its all a crap shoot unfortunately. Everyone wants more, gives you more chances of course. But, it all comes down to quality in the end.
