Best method for monitoring ovulation
So DH and I have officially decided to "really" TTC (as opposed to the "winging" it method we've been doing lately).
I have decided to take the step of getting ovulation kit/strip/monitor.
I need help!!!
What to get? What works "best"?
Any helpful hints??
TIA.
PS we're TTCing for #2, when we conceived DS, it was the 1st month after I stopped BCP, w/o charting anything. Talk about luck. Not so much now

Re: Best method for monitoring ovulation
personally for me... my favorite method was the CBEFM.
I wasn't a temper... I couldn't deal with the taking the temp at a specific time and charting it and figuring out the chart, etc. I know some swear by it and it's a great resource but it would have made me insane.
I also liked OPK's but only the smiley ones, not the ones where you had to compare lines.
I just wanted the easiest stuff... not anything that made me have to decipher or work extra hard.
I figured doing deanna's plan and all the was hard enough work!

Re: Best method for monitoring ovulation
Im going to start the CBEFM next month once AF returns again...I dont think I'll be temping. I really enjoyed this month off (since I got my BFP) of not having to wake up to temp on the weekends. Its really not that big a deal but I enjoy not having to bother with that. I think I will just stick to the monitor and the digital OPKs. I have a pretty good idea of when I O so maybe I'll just go by that.

Oh it's ridiculous!! And I bought it full price at CVS not realizing you could get it for less on amazon or online. I considered it the price of my laziness! haha!! To me though... it was worth it in the end. Well worth it. I'd give you mine, but I plan on using it again in the near future.

Re: Best method for monitoring ovulation
The only true way to know if you are ovulating is to temp. I temped to make sure I was ovlutaing and then when I knew I was I added in the CBE OPK.

I didn't temp, but I agree that this is going to be the cheapest and more accurate way to know for SURE you are actually O'ing.
You could get cheaper OPK's than the digitals, but those are the simplest to read and you can get them on Amazon for half the price they are selling for at stores.

Re: Best method for monitoring ovulation
definitely the CBEFM. i was using the POAS ones before and they never would've told me that instead of the avg O'ing around CD 14 that I actually O on CD 10, which the CBEFM was able to show.

Re: Best method for monitoring ovulation
Thats not a bad price for the package. That seems to be the typically package price for buying it online.

Re: Best method for monitoring ovulation
I use OPK's. But the lines ones. It makes me nuts thinking that one line is darker than the other! But they do work. Nothing is simpler then the ones with the smileys!!! I have got to try those!!! I think it's so simpler then comparing lines...I think you can go crosseyed!...lol I was a temper I couldn't figure out the chart and I would always forget to temp in the morning..ugh...So I just stick to OPK's.
