Installing CAC how much?

We already have duct work for our heat, so I guess we would just need the compressor. Any ideas how much it would be?

We were just quoted $7K (we have a SMALL RANCH) but need the duct work.

We have 3 appointments in the next week for quotes. I'll let you know what they come up with.

We got a quote last year for $3000, but he suggested we have different ducts because the heating system was so old. We still haven't gotten it. It's on the bucket list for next year.

Sears installed our CAC about 5 years ago (we had duct work already, just needed the unit). It cost us around $7K. We have a 2 story colonial, and a partially finished basement (with heat and air).

We are adding a 2nd zone because upstairs is still too warm, we will have duct work installed thru the attic - It's going to run another $6K or so.

we have a 2700 sqft colonial, we need all the duct work 2 zones was going to be 9k-12k. BUT most of that was labor and duct work. I can't see it costing you more then 3-5k

what sqft is your home? it gets pricy when you need extra units. some ranches need one on each end. I beleive the cut off was 2500 sqft for one unit? every company is different though.

Get estimates, they are FREE

Also, if you can wait until the fall and winter, most companies are looking to get rid of this years inventory before next years models come out, and work is slower so they are more inclined to give you a break on labor.

if your electrical panel is not updated 200amp or greater, you will need to update that as well which is 1800-2000 alone ETA- this would be seperate form the above quotes

Re: Installing CAC how much?

We did it 5 years ago. Had duct work for heat already. 1850 sq. ft. hi ranch, 3.5 ton compressor, 2 zones, had to have new furnace put in to accomodate the CAC (so essentially we put in CAC and upgraded our heating system too). Paid just under $7K.

Slomins quoted us over $12K because they refused to use our heating ductwork (where our vents are low on the wall, about 12" high off the floor), insisting that CAC had to come from ceiling vents. Chat Icon In theory, it's the optimal choice, but we've had it for 5 years coming out of the same heating ductwork with no issues and it's a dream to have! Chat Icon
