Yay!

DH and I are looking to book a Med. cruise for July. We have decided; we just need to book it.

I've found cruise critic to be very helpful!

I know. Pretty disappointing. Buffet was pretty good but this may sound prissy but I don't go on vacation to serve myself. KWIM? Ending up trying 3 specialty restaurants! Seems like they purposely made MDR food suck so you pay for the restaurants. I love NCL but think I'm going to look elsewhere until the food gets better!

I agree they purposely make it lower standards to force you into the pay restaurants. The one night we were in the MDR, 5 tables around us sent food back or just rejected it after a few bites.

We also went to 3 pay restaurants, otherwise the buffet or hotdogs/hamburgers. Cagney's was worse than Outback and they double charged me. (Maybe I got the wrong cut of meat, I don't know... that really shouldnt be an excuse.) I'm going to call them today to get them to refund the overcharge - if not I'm disputing the charge on my credit card. The italian place was like Olive Garden to me, but I wasn't that upset since we had buy 1 get 1 free from buying 2 at the french restaurant.

Maybe people from the midwest that don't have anything but Dennys are the ones raving about these restaurants..

I didn't want to say anything but I didn't think cagneys was all that great either. Dh and I eat out often and I guess like you, we can compare to other places rather easily. Like I said, I really love NCL but the food will prob make me look elsewhere for our next cruise

As a followup to this, I spoke to customer service yesterday, they said its odd I was charged twice. They emailed the ship yesterday to find out what happened. Rep called me back first thing this morning to let me know it was a mistake and they will refund my credit card the 40 dollars in the next 5-7 business days.

They were very easy to deal with on this. I thougth they were going to give me a hard time because it says at the bottom of your bill that any disputes must be brought up before you leave the ship.

For any people going on the Jewel - they dont put your bill under your door until about 5AM departure morning. We were leaving at 7:30, so with the huge line there was no way we could dispute anything. I suggest getting a copy of your bill the last day and not waiting until they deliver it to you, that way you can at least check 95% of the charges and you have time to dispute. We should have done this but never had an issue on any other line, so we didn't think of it until it was too late.

I was on the jewel as well. May 19th sailing. I thought the staff on that ship was wonderful. I got to talk to alot of the officers and even met the captain. Great people! Shows were really good IMO
