Ugggh
Well I'll officially be hitting the one year mark. I'm out for this month and hoping June will be better luck.
In one year, I've had 3 various infections and was sick for a total of about 6 months. Between that and my long cycles, we've had just 5 cycles where we even had a decent shot. My doctor brought up running some tests and maybe starting clomid to regulate my cycles but I decided to put it off for another month or two at least. I'm hoping now that I'm back to being healthy I'll get a BFP naturally.
i guess this is mostly a vent, although I'm trying to stay positive. Just wondering, how long would you wait before considering medication? I don't exactly want to wait another 6 months but I want to feel like I had a good shot. Thanks to anyone who made it this far and listening to my rambling!

Re: Ugggh
I waited a year and a half (maybe more) before I started clomid and went for more testing. I wish I had done it earlier. I ended up getting PG on my own but that was after 2 IUIs with Clomid and was just about to start an IVF cycle.

Re: Ugggh
We just started trying this month but I'm also seeing a RE because I have PCOS. She wants to monitor my first cycle and then we will discuss medication. I'm not opposed to trying medication even after only 1 cycle...whatever will help.

Re: Ugggh
first off
the one year mark is hard...when i hit it i was really really upset
i can only speak for myself but i will tell you in my case i was like you..i had super long cycles,up to 70 days..i was also not ovulating and have someother issues ..and i was devastated to hear i have a 5 to 10 percent chance of getting pregnant naturally and that i would need meds
once i accepted it i will sayi am not preggo yet but my cycles r a lot more regular and it i get to try every 5 to 6 weeks rather than 9 or 10..kwim?
do all the pills and shots suck..of course..but we do what we ahve to do
i cant tell you what to do bc everyone is diff but i will say for me the meds are helping and i wish i started them from the get go
best of luck

Re: Ugggh
So sorry. Try to stay positive. I think everyone takes the next step at different times during this journey. Do what you feel. I am on cycle 7 and i have made an appointment with my gyno for the end of this cycle just to go over stuff. I am not positive what i intend to do if anything yet, i just want to talk to her and get some insight. For us, even if i am told i will not be able to conceive naturally i will continue to try for prob 5 months before taking the next step. If i am told i do not ovualte then i will start meds for that. Whatver you decide to do Good Luck. LOTS of

Re: Ugggh
Thanks again girls. I think we are going to try June on our own and if we don't get a BFP we'll start testing after that. As a teacher, it's much easier for me to get to the doctors and labs during the summer anyway. Crossing my fingers that we won't need it though. On a good note, this was probably my shortest cycle in nearly a year!

Re: Ugggh
If you don't mind me asking, how old are you? I think that plays a part in how long people wait to talk to the dr. Depending on your age, drs want you to try on your own for 6-12 months before intervening unless you have confirmed IF issues.
Do you use OPKs and get a positive read?
Dh and I just started trying recently, but I had a CT scan for unrelated reasons that showed a cyst on my ovaries. Then I tried OPKs and never got a positive. My dr has been running tests and found that I have weak ovulation (low progesterone) so I have a very low chance of getting PG on my own and a higher chance of a m/c if by some chance we do get PG. That being said, DH is going for SA in the next couple of weeks. We'll try 1 more cycle on our own and then if he checks out, we'll move on to medication.
I don't view it as a failure - needing help. I actually think we were very lucky to have found out so early on. I wish you all the luck. Keep us updated!

I'm just about to turn 30. I think I would be much more concerned if we were able to try for this whole year and had no results. The Dr. didn't seem concerned, but he also said that none of the medical issues I had should have effected my fertility. Not sure how being so sick my cycle went on for 75 days or having a UTI at the time of ovulation doesn't effect someone's fertility.
I have gotten a positive on the OPK every month except one where I stopped too soon. Hopefully it has just been bad luck but I definitely want to start testing in July if we still have no BFP. There's no sense in waiting if there is something wrong.
