Installation of car seat base
Is it supposed to slide around after it is put in?

NO!! It says in my manual that it shouldn't move more than a half an inch from side to side. I couldn't pull the belt tight enough but DH fixed it. Are you using the LATCH system or belt?

Re: Installation of car seat base
Mine slid when I installed it myself (using the LATCH system). DH took it to the State Police for inspection, and they did some awesome combination of belts - and it's virtually unmoveable now!
I thought it was crazy that we'd need to take it for inspection, but it made such a difference!

Re: Installation of car seat base
Not sure where you live, but there are places throughout the island that will check your car seat installation, free of charge, Some require appointments though. I went to Hassell Auto Body, and was thrilled we did. Just an FYI, but if your base is installed incorrectly and you're in an accident, it nullifies the warranty!

Re: Installation of car seat base
I used to sell car seats.
Have you DH put his weight on the base, that will allow the base to "sink" into the seat, and allow you to pull up the slack on the seatbelt.

Re: Installation of car seat base
I am so glad that you posted this. I swear, my DH just doesn't think we need to get it inspected. I'm trying to explain that it's NOT that I don't think he's smart enough to install it, but isn't the safety of our baby worth the trip? He's taking it personally.

Tell your DH that they say 90% of carseats installed at home are installed wrong.
I have had my seats installed for almost 4 years now. It's so easy and takes only minutes. I leave having the peace of mind that they are in correctly.
