WWYD - tube issue
TTC 6 months, 1 miscarriage, 1 badly swollen infected fallopian tube (due to an infection I "may" have gotten from my D&C). Tube is clearly seen on the ultrasound and looks like stuffed sausage. It is badly swollen and fluid filled from start to end.
RE says remove the tube right away, the infection was severe and the tube is badly impaired and will never go back to normal. It can cause an ectopic pregnancy and also leak bad fluids in my uterus making an unsafe environment for an embryo.
OB says wait it out 3 months, keep TTC and if no bfp lets do an hsg when the tube calms down a bit. He is not worried about the things the RE said.
That is it in a nutshell. I am getting another opinion at some point (hopefully in June) and would love an RE recommendation in LI or NYC. I don't want to rush this at all. Anyway would you keep TTC on your own? I am leaning towards no bc I dont want another m/c or ectopic - even though they could happen anyway, ugh. Any other advice?

Thank you, this is what i need to hear. My OB just brushed it off and said "oh if it happens we will catch it early" I dont want to deal with that heartache though or the physical side effects either.

i dont know anyone who has had the same ectopic experience... BUT just because they catch it early doesnt mean anything... mine was caught at just over 5 weeks but i experienced a lot of pain aside from the emotional pain of having to terminate...

i agree with this 1000%. i had an ectopic as well and it was a horrible experience. i ended up losing my right tube. even still, my RE feels i will get pregnant so hope is not lost if you have to remove it!
i would definitely recommend seeing Dr. B on LI if you haven't already. he's fantastic :)

i agree 1000% and i had 2 ectopics. one was caught by 5.5 weeks and the other at 4.5 weeks and they were both horrible experiences.
as for removing the tube or not, i would lean more towards removing it. i would be too worried about it not healing correctly. the tubes are so fragile. but i think a second opinion is the way to go. losing a tube will reduce your chances a little each month, but not by much. the other tube can pick up the egg even if it's on the opposite ovary.
sorry you are dealing with this

Re: WWYD - tube issue
I share the opinion of the other ectopic survivors. Mine was at 8.5 weeks and it changed me forever. I wouldn't take the chance. Wait it out, get a 2nd opinion. I, too, lean toward your RE's recommendation of removal. Good luck!
